Leto embraces summer vibes on “Chéri Coco”

Leto has come a long way since his early days with PSO Thug. Following his time with the group, the Saint-Ouen rapper launched his solo career with the mixtape “Trap$tar” after signing to REC 118. Years later, now firmly established as one of the leading names in French rap, he revealed during an interview with Pascal Cefran on Mouv’ that his beginnings were far from easy, admitting that bailiffs had even come knocking at his door. Those difficult days, however, are now firmly behind him.

Since then, the artist has built an impressive track record. Backed by certified projects such as “100 Visages” and “Capitaine fait de l’art”, he carved out his place in the scene through a sound heavily influenced by American rap and gangsta rap culture. In 2025, however, he surprised listeners with “Life”, a project that showcased a more melodic and uplifting side of his artistry. It was a bold creative shift that stood in contrast to much of his earlier work. Yet remaining true to his roots, Leto quickly returned to grittier territory with “Thug Ceremony”, reconnecting with the raw energy that first won over his core fanbase.

As summer settles across France and temperatures continue to rise, the former PSO Thug member is back with a track perfectly tailored for the season. Titled “Chéri Coco”, the new single steps away from street narratives in favor of a lifestyle centered on success, luxury, and relaxation.

Far removed from the streets of the 93 district where he grew up, the rapper is seen enjoying the sunshine in a lavish villa surrounded by comfort, parties, and unmistakable summer vibes. It’s a striking image that highlights just how far he has come since his early days.

The track’s production is handled by Scvlra and Raedwav, formerly known as Raed. Both members of the Winterfel collective, the producers have become regular collaborators in Leto’s musical journey, helping shape the sound that has come to define much of his recent work.

In recent months, Scvlra has notably worked alongside Eduardo and Yatss on “Trahison pour du papier”, while Raedwav contributed to “Ronnie Kray” by Landy and Tiakola. Together, the pair have also crafted several standout tracks in Leto’s catalog, including “Bédo du matin” and “Jamais en stress”. On “Chéri Coco”, they deliver a bright, energetic, and highly infectious production designed to soundtrack the summer months.

On the track, Leto reflects on his rise and the lifestyle that now comes with it:

“Pour nous c’est tout en haut, c’était la misère il fut un temps (lie)
J’suis dans un bon mood (mood), ne me fais pas perdre mon temps (time)”

Directed by Kenzy Amellal, the music video perfectly captures the song’s carefree summer atmosphere. Featuring swimming pools, luxury cars, exclusive parties, and upscale settings, the visuals reinforce the track’s feel-good energy while highlighting the rapper’s current status. Over the past few months, the director has also made a name for himself through the introductory visual for “Top Boy” by RK and “Titanic” by Leto, further cementing his position as one of the most active video directors in the French urban music scene.
