UNDER MY SKIN, the second feature film by director Pascal Tessaud, pays tribute to the Krump dance movement through the story of Kaleem, a young man from the northern districts of Marseille. Portrayed by dancer Wilfried Blé, also known as Wolf — who became Krump world champion in Germany — the film will be screened on April 7 as part of the Boost program of the Seine-Saint-Denis Choreographic Encounters at Ciné 104 in Pantin. Following the screening, a live Krump demonstration will be performed by four members of the company La Strukture, co-directed by Wolf.
The film will also close the RAKSA Dance Film Festival in Paris on April 30 at the Sorbonne Nouvelle venue. The screening will begin at 6:30 PM and will take place in the presence of the film’s crew. Admission is free, subject to availability.
The event will open at 6:00 PM with Pascal Tessaud’s first documentary short film, “The Passion According to Ahmed” (6’40). The film portrays breaker Ahmed Brihmouche, originally from Vandœuvre, a suburb of Nancy. Shot in 1999, it marked Tessaud’s first steps behind the camera and already revealed his deep interest in dance culture.
UNDER MY SKIN has enjoyed remarkable success on the international festival circuit, collecting no fewer than 39 awards worldwide. The film received Grand Prix distinctions in cities such as Compton, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Rome, Hong Kong, London, São Paulo, East New York, São Jorge, Pedra Azul, Marseille and Westminster. It also earned the Spirit Award for Best Feature Film in Brooklyn, the Best Actress Award for Almaz Papatakis in Casablanca and Rome, and the Best Actor Award for Wilfried Blé at the SMR13 festival and in Itauna, Brazil.
Following warmly received premieres in Marseille, In the Skin was distributed theatrically across France by Les Films de l’Atalante, reaching audiences in around forty cities.
UNDER MY SKIN was produced with residents from Marseille’s working-class neighborhoods through the Moovida Academy. The film’s strong reception both in southern France and abroad therefore stands as a meaningful reward for these aspiring actors and performers.
For those unable to attend the upcoming screenings, the film is currently available on VOD platforms including Canal+, Amazon Prime, Viva, UniversCiné and Max Premiere. A Blu-ray release is scheduled for 2026 through Factoris Films.
