Zed continues to push his album “Malcolm” with unwavering consistency. A key member of the French collective 13 Block, alongside Stavo and Oldpee, he kicked off the project a year ago with the hard-hitting freestyle “ZEUDEUDE (60)”. In that first visual, Zed paid tribute to Malcolm X through the lens of Spike Lee, setting the tone for a socially conscious and symbolically charged album.
Since then, he’s released over a dozen visuals, each expanding the world of “Malcolm” with intensity and vision. Few rappers show such dedication and long-term investment in their projects.
Upon release, the album made an immediate impact, selling nearly 10,000 units across all formats in its first week. Today, Zed can proudly claim a gold certification, with over 50,000 units sold.
Zed keeps “Malcolm” alive with “Sky”!
With the release of the “Sky” video, Zed breathes new life into his album, diving into sonic influences clearly rooted in US rap. The track is packed with infectious gimmicks and catchy vibes, showcasing his ability to evolve while staying true to his identity.
The production is handled by Epon, a beatmaker closely associated with Green Montana. He’s previously worked with him on tracks like “Bissap”, “Riche nouveau monde”, and “Véhicule allemand”. On “À la base”, Epon reunites with Zed, this time alongside PLK, Lesram, and Coyote Jo Bastard in a standout collaboration.
Driven by a bold rhythm and transatlantic soundscape, “Sky” perfectly reflects Zed’s finesse, delivering his signature flow with confidence and precision.
A sharp visual by Dénys Bourbier
To bring this new track to the screen, Zed once again teams up with director Dénys Bourbier. Known for his innovative work with Ziak, Bourbier balances experimental aesthetics—as seen in “Manuel de Vengeance” and “Maudit Land”—with more traditional formats like “Story” and “Belle Madame”.
With “Sky”, he delivers a minimalist yet striking video, perfectly aligned with Zed’s raw and street-rooted aesthetic.
