Mission accomplished for Zed.
A few years ago, Stavo announced that the highly anticipated BLO III from 13Block would ultimately never be released. The decision marked a turning point for the group, with each member choosing to carve out a solo path. While Stavo launched TVX, a project rooted in pure rap, Oldpee unveiled his own artistic universe, and Zed paid tribute to a peaceful rebel with Malcom.
A winning move. With over 10,000 copies sold in its first week, the artist from Sevran secured his first solo gold record. A success reinforced by a carefully executed rollout: most of the tracks were given visual treatments, firmly anchoring the project within the rap landscape.
Zed now builds on this momentum by teaming up with 94-based rapper iDS. Together, they deliver a dark, tense, and fragmented trap record, fully aligned with the genre’s codes.
Zed and iDS make it 2.80.
Production duties are handled bySokol, Boya & Eliyel A rising figure on the Paris scene, Sokol regularly collaborates with the new wave of French rap, including La Mano 1.9 and La Rvfleuze. He also made his mark on Kat by Gazo, alongside Eliyel, who also appears on this new track. Eliyel, too, has been stacking notable placements with this emerging generation.
The result is a heavy, ominous instrumental, firmly grounded in trap aesthetics and executed with full command of the genre’s mechanics.
Over this foundation, both rappers fully embrace trap egotrip, firing off razor-sharp punchlines, such as:
“And—, and I—, and I can’t end up in Antoinette’s bed, she’s doing coke in the bathroom (the bathroom)”
or:
“I think I’m messed up, there’s a little voice in my head telling me to slit them all (slit ’em)”
Provocative, raw, and unapologetically gangsta, Zed and iDS support the track with a black-and-white music video directed by Arthur Keasy. The director captures both artists with raw energy in the heart of their neighborhood, punctuating the visuals with freeze-frames reminiscent of still photography. A stripped-back aesthetic that mirrors the track’s dark atmosphere.
Arthur Keasy has recently made his mark working with Leto on Shai Alexander, as well as with Landy and Franglish on Tu veux quoi?.
