This is the latest signing of the Morning Glory label, whose roster has expanded at a rapid pace over the past few years. At the helm is DJ Bellek, brother of DJ Kore, who already balances multiple professional paths. Rather than slowing them down, he fuels them and gives each one a renewed sense of momentum.
Recently, the label boss has surrounded himself with Bag Jeune B, Yoko — a young rapper from Sarcelles whom he already manages alongside Favé — as well as Decimo and Zé, to name just a few. The strategy is clear: Morning Glory is firmly betting on youth and creative renewal.
After making a strong impression with his signature freestyle, Zé quickly followed up with the tracks “Caille” and “Catamaran”. Now approaching 300,000 views on YouTube, the rapper has just released “Chardonnay” — a name equally familiar to fine wine enthusiasts and rap fans alike, hovering between cultural reference and a symbol of status, as Dinos once put it: “Je pleure du Chardonnay”.
Zé, for his part, believes there are too many bubbles in “Chardonnay”.
The instrumental production is handled by Wild MT. The Algerian beatmaker spent years working abroad before expanding his reach within the French rap scene, collaborating in particular with Lacrim, Niaks, and Werenoi. The production draws heavily from American rap aesthetics. On this track, Zé, visibly disillusioned, leans into an ultra-realist approach, delivering his lines sparingly and with precision:
“I don’t sleep at night, knowing she’s being torn apart by someone else / It eats me up / I’m the wildfire / I don’t like the world / I don’t like people / I feel alone at the carnival.”
The visual, directed by Kespey, appears to have been shot in Switzerland. It alternates between sleek, luxurious urban settings and a carnival where the rapper moves alone, amplifying the sense of isolation that runs through the track. In recent months, Kespey has worked extensively with Jul, notably directing the visuals for “Tu Tenenew” and “Nostalgique”. Prior to that, he also collaborated with Landy on “Beaux Quartiers” and “Iliana”, as well as “Laisse tomber”.
