Rim’K and Genezio honor “Number 23” with power and precision

Few artists have managed to evolve and adapt to new sounds with as much ease as Rim’K. A true legend of French rap, “Tonton” was already ruling the game in the late 1990s with the iconic group 113. Nearly three decades later, he’s still stacking hits, refusing both nostalgia and the confines of *old school* rap.

Last week, Rim’K unveiled his latest project, “Run Évolution” — an ambitious record featuring Genezio, TH, SDM, L2B, and Saïf. Staying true to his role as a bridge between generations, the rapper from the 94 keeps linking up with the new wave of French hip-hop talent.

This time, he teams up with Genezio for a track paying tribute to a global sports icon: Michael Jordan — the man behind the number 23, a lasting symbol of excellence and perseverance with the Chicago Bulls.

The beat is produced by Boumidjal and Holomobb. A former member of the duo Double X, Boumidjal frequently collaborates with Holomobb. Together, they’ve crafted several recent hits, including “McLaren” by Favé, “AVALM” by SDM, and “Run” by Rim’K and SDM. The result is a sharp, modern, high-energy production where the two rappers trade fiery bars and catchy hooks over a slick tempo. The track has already surpassed one million views on YouTube.

Rim’K leaves his unmistakable mark with a confident, hard-hitting verse:

“They shot me in the back (wouh), so I sent a bike in return (wouh)
Interior color mango, let’s go, the money makes us shine”

Genezio follows up with equal fire, mixing melancholy and bravado:

“Had the rage, rage, rage from yesterday (wouh), rage like Kanye (hey)
They told me ‘Tomorrow will be better,’ I cashed a check, now I’m feeling okay”

Directed by Axel Haze, the video switches between scenes shot at the Adidas Arena — home of Paris Basketball — and a sleek luxury garage. Known for his polished visual style, the director previously helmed standout clips like “T’aimes ça” by Monsieur Nov, “Go” by Kekra and Rim’K, and “Violet” by Uzi featuring RK. Here, he delivers a cinematic, visually rich production that enhances the track’s themes — success, resilience, and the will to rise above.
