An authentic embodiment of the gangsta rap revival in an era dominated by musical diversity, HMZ has multiplied high-profile collaborations, notably with Koba LaD and ZKR. Signed to Believe, he recently added another standout track to his catalog alongside ZKR: “Méchant au grand cœur” — a raw, sharp and emotionally charged record that showcases his lyrical precision and artistic maturity.
HMZ & ZKR: “Méchant au grand cœur”
The instrumental production of the track bears the unmistakable signature of Bersa, the talented producer hailing from Sevran. Known for his long-term collaborations with Maes and especially Benab — whom he has supported throughout his career — Bersa remains one of the most consistent architects of modern French rap. While his longtime associate has decided to “settle down among the men of reason,” Bersa continues to shape the genre with powerful, refined, and musically rich productions.
For this collaboration, Bersa moves away from festive sounds to deliver a darker, more introspective atmosphere — perfectly aligned with the identities of ZKR, from Roubaix, and
HMZ. Both rappers, known for their sharp writing and authentic street realism, offer a track deeply rooted in the essence of the pavement — built on tense guitar arpeggios and raw, confrontational lyricism. The result is a tight exchange of hard-hitting punchlines where honesty and hardness collide.
ZKR sets the tone right from the start: “I f*** rap and attend the C-section.”
Meanwhile,
HMZ fires back with:
“I’d rather have a friend who sniffs coke than a snitch who can’t raise his head in the box.”
These lines perfectly capture the core of their artistry — loyalty, authenticity, and a deep sense of street ethics.
Directed by Nadym Ben Bakar (DIGITAL NAK), the music video draws direct inspiration from the visual style of The Godfather trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola. In front of a grand manor, the two rappers appear suited up, holding Usky glasses, in a cinematic setting that pays homage to classic mafia films. This symbolic “fourth chapter” extends the visual universe of their previous works, reinforcing their image as both visionary and strategic artists.
Once again, Digital NAK and Nadym Ben Bakar prove their mastery, following their acclaimed work on “Que Miras Bobo” by Soolking and the Soolking × Ninho collaboration “C’est fort”.
