In one of their early tracks, Bigflo & Oli, then barely teenagers, were already making it clear that they were not “gangsta”. Going against some of rap’s dominant clichés, the two brothers were carving out a different path for themselves. In an interview with Kombini, Akhénaton even praised their vocal technique and sharp writing skills.
A few years later, the other “Deux Frères” of French rap have not strayed from that trajectory. Creativity, technical precision, and a strong sense of storytelling continue to define their artistic universe, far removed from loud gangster egotrips, half-naked video vixens, and territorial rivalries staged in music videos.
Hailing from Toulouse, the two artists have established themselves as key figures in the French rap scene. Vald even described them as “the best rappers on stage” during his appearance on the show Clique. A recognition that highlights their ability to turn live performances into truly immersive experiences.
Their previous project, “Les autres c’est nous”, confirmed that momentum. The album was certified double platinum and sold more than 36,000 copies in its first week, demonstrating the loyalty of a fanbase that continues to follow their artistic evolution.
Today, Bigflo & Oli open a new chapter with the project “Karma”. Presented as their rawest and most rap-focused record to date, the album notably features no guest appearances at all. It’s a deliberate choice that brings the duo back to the essentials: their writing, their chemistry, and their musical identity.
Alongside this release, the two brothers continue to expand their creative ventures. They recently opened a recording studio inside the TFC stadium, strengthening their connection to their hometown.
To introduce the project, Bigflo & Oli unveiled the title track “Karma”. The music video, filmed in Tibet, embraces a contemplative aesthetic that also reflects their taste for travel and distant landscapes.
Bigflo & Oli have called upon karma.
The track’s instrumental composition is credited to Bigflo, Clément Libes and Léo Faubert. Over the years, Bigflo has also become a regular composer for the duo, shaping a significant part of their sonic identity.
Clément Libes, a guitarist and composer, is a longtime collaborator whose signature can be heard on several notable tracks such as “Je suis”, “Alors alors”, “Plus tard”, and “Sur la lune”. Léo Faubert, meanwhile, played a major role in shaping the musical atmosphere of the “Karma” project. He has also composed extensively for the band Kid Wise.
The song carries a slightly lunar atmosphere, perfectly echoing the landscapes of Tibet featured in the video. True to their reputation as meticulous lyricists, the two artists deliver introspective and sincere lines:
“Sometimes it’s hard to believe in yourself
I’m learning to keep my composure
What you throw out into the universe comes back to you”
or again:
“Self-made religion, I improvise my prayers
Karma, you forgot about me — as if I deserved all of this”
The visual direction of the project was handled by Antoine Zago-Honnorat. The video, shot in Tibet, stands out for its cinematic scale and breathtaking landscapes. Today, Bigflo & Oli clearly have the resources to match their creative ambitions.
The director had already collaborated with the duo when they traveled to England for the freestyle “Londres en Mars”, a track built around a production by Bigflo.
