When Silence Becomes Rebirth – The Story of Carlō Vieux Told Through the Documentary The Loudest Silence

For nearly two decades, the group CaRiMi embodied the modernity and pride of Haitian music. From Port-au-Prince to New York, their songs stirred hearts, soundtracked celebrations, love stories, and journeys of exile. Then, in 2016, it all came to an end.

For millions of fans, that moment marked the close of an era.
For Carlō Vieux, it was the beginning of a long silence.

Carlō Vieux: The Soul of Haiti and the Voice of a Generation

Carlō Vieux stands as one of Haiti’s most iconic and respected voices — a singer, songwriter, and performer whose presence has shaped the course of modern Haitian music for over twenty years. Known worldwide as a founding member of the legendary group CaRiMi, he has become a defining figure of the Afro-Caribbean scene, embodying artistic excellence, passion, and the pride of an entire people.

Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Carlō grew up surrounded by music, rhythm, and emotion. In 2001, he co-founded CaRiMi — a band that would go on to revolutionize modern Haitian music by blending contemporary sounds with traditional influences. The group quickly became a global phenomenon, a unifying force for the Haitian diaspora, and a cultural bridge across continents.

With his powerful, heartfelt voice, Carlō Vieux captivated generations, performing to sold-out crowds in legendary venues such as Accor Arena (Bercy), Le Zénith de Paris, and L’Olympia. With CaRiMi, he also made history as part of the only Haitian band to sell out two major U.S. arenas: UBS Arena in New York and Amerant Bank Arena in Florida.

Praised for his authenticity and emotional depth, Carlō Vieux has become a complete artist, one who can reach multiple generations through a sound that merges soul, depth, and modernity. After more than a decade of worldwide success, he chose silence — a period of introspection and renewal.

Today, he returns with a renewed artistic maturity and a more universal vision. His comeback represents far more than a simple career revival — it is a true rebirth, driven by gratitude, passion, and the conviction that music remains the most powerful language to unite people.

Silence as a Space for Rebirth

Directed by KN Visual Media and written by Serge Turnier, the documentary The Loudest Silence – The Story of Carlō Vieux from CaRiMi dives deep into the inner world of an artist who chose silence in order to be reborn. Far from the noise of fame, Carlō Vieux embarks on an introspective journey where music becomes a path toward self-reconciliation.

Produced by Power Surge Music Group, the film unfolds with sensitivity and poetry, narrated by the warm, immersive voice of Gaëlle Gracien. Through tender imagery, memories, and intimate confessions, The Loudest Silence reveals how an artist learns not just to listen to the world — but to himself once again.

“I didn’t choose silence to disappear. I chose it to find myself again.”

An Ode to Vulnerability and Memory

Over the course of an hour, viewers follow Carlō Vieux through a journey marked by doubt, light, and resilience. The original score — composed by Kdans, CaRiMi, and Carlō Vieux himself — bridges nostalgia and renewal, weaving a dialogue between past and future, silence and symphony.

A Production at the Crossroads of Cultures

The Loudest Silence is the result of a shared vision between executive producers Serge Turnier, Karl Yvan Vieux, and Guylaine Cléry. Together, they deliver a universal yet profoundly Haitian story — one that speaks fluently in French, English, and Creole, the three voices of a single heart.

Running for 1 hour and 14 minutes, the documentary will premiere on November 6, 2025 via YouTube, before expanding to the TRACE network (in 29 countries) as well as TRACE Plus and France TV La 1ère (9 channels). Its international release reaffirms the global reach of Carlō Vieux’s message.

More Than a Documentary — A Human Testimony

The Loudest Silence is more than the story of an artist in search of peace — it’s a meditation on resilience, grief, and rebirth. Where many would have heard an ending, Carlō Vieux heard a beginning. He embraced silence — and found within it the most beautiful melody of all: rebirth.

“The Loudest Silence” — because sometimes you have to be quiet to truly be heard.
