Khemiss — PHANTOM: The Comeback of a 78 Pioneer
After several years of silence, Khemiss, a key figure in the Yvelines rap scene, makes a quiet yet powerful comeback with his new project PHANTOM PART 1, released on May 17, 2025. This 6-track EP, infused with a dark, New York-inspired vibe, is produced by the renowned Sayd des Mureaux. True to himself, Khemiss delivers introspective lyrics, shaped by struggle and sharpened by resilience.
And this is only the beginning. PHANTOM PART 2, produced by Ridfabulous, is already set for release on July 17. Two EPs that mirror one another, forming a cohesive vision: that of an artist emerging from the shadows with renewed clarity and the same unwavering passion.
Grounded in the 78 Roots
Hailing from the 78 department (Yvelines), Khemiss El Kalif began his journey in 2006 as a beatmaker. He quickly gained recognition producing for a rising local talent. That experience led him to step behind the mic. His first track, “Si je t’aime pas”, laid the groundwork for a style marked by raw honesty and lyrical weight.
From Cortège de peine to Tout en haut du building
In 2012, he dropped his debut mixtape Cortège de peine, a deeply personal and praised release. Three years later came the EP Tout en haut du building (2015), confirming his unique place in France’s independent rap landscape.
PHANTOM: A Haunted Mind Reawakens
Personal hardships took him away from music for a while. But in 2025, with the fire still burning, Khemiss re-emerges through PHANTOM, a dual project that blends his past trials with a sharp, reflective energy. Collaborating with Sayd and Ridfabulous, he crafts a soundscape that captures his journey, resilience, and unshakable artistic integrity.
PHANTOM is more than a comeback — it’s a statement. Proof that the spirit of true hip-hop never fades, even in silence.
