From the very first rehearsals, a special energy filled the room. Rappers, singers, beatmakers, and spoken-word poets from every background came together, united by the same drive — passion and sharing. Far from any sense of rivalry, Open Mic brought to life a true community of emerging artists, who supported, inspired, and lifted one another throughout the process.
“It was the first time we were offered a professional stage with that much respect and attention. We felt seen.” shared one of the performers. Those words perfectly sum up the spirit behind Ghost Prod’s vision: a platform where every artist, regardless of origin, can be themselves — free from filters or expectations.
TRACE — the heartbeat of a living Francophonie
Broadcast on Trace Africa, Trace Urban, and Trace Outre-Mer, the Lyon event gave these young talents a chance to be seen far beyond French borders. By backing Open Mic, TRACE reaffirms its long-standing mission: placing the Francophone world at the heart of the global cultural conversation, while celebrating the richness and diversity of urban identities.
For many of the participants, it was a first — being filmed, broadcast on an international network, and featured in a professional-grade production. That sense of accomplishment pushed past stage fright and turned into newfound confidence. “That night, I truly felt my voice mattered. TRACE allowed me to see myself differently.”

Behind the success of Open Mic lies the hard work of Ghost Prod. From technical preparation to artist support, the team worked with dedication to make each performance authentic and memorable. More than a producer, Ghost Prod became a kind of collective mentor — encouraging, advising, and giving artists the tools to go further.
This behind-the-scenes effort embodies the project’s philanthropic dimension: creating real opportunities in an ecosystem where visibility is often a privilege. Through this first edition, Ghost Prod and TRACE reminded the world that music can still be a means to uplift, unite, and inspire.
Lyon — a stage for emotion and connection

December 2023 marked the beginning of a long-term journey. After Lyon, Open Mic is set to travel — to Paris, Abidjan, Brussels, and Montreal — continuing its mission to connect and empower Francophone talent across the globe. TRACE and Ghost Prod proved that sometimes, by simply handing someone a microphone, you can create far more than a show — you can create a human chain, an experience, a shared memory.
Open Mic Lyon wasn’t just a broadcast. It was a promise — to give a voice to those who have something real to say, and to open the Francophone stage to a new horizon where music is art, connection, and belief all at once.
