Dr. Dre doesn’t particularly like today’s rap!

Dr. Dre doesn’t particularly like today’s rap! He’s a living legend. The former member of N.W.A. established the West Coast as a rapper, but more importantly as a beatmaker and producer. He appeared on Kevin Hart’s talk show and confessed that today’s rap leaves him a bit pensive:

“Anyone talking about the state of Hip Hop right now, approaching it from a negative standpoint, sounds like a fucking grandfather. That’s just how it is. Hip Hop is evolving. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it, you know what I’m saying?”

As for his own appreciation of Hip Hop, he candidly shares:

“I’m gonna keep it real with you. A lot of this shit, most of this shit, I don’t like. I don’t listen to a lot of this shit. But I don’t hate on it. I’m never gonna hate on it. These young ones are using what they have at their fingertips.”

He also paid a tremendous tribute to Kendrick Lamar, whom he invited on the album “Compton“:

“Kendrick Lamar is a fucking authentic artist, the true definition of the word,” declared Dr. Dre. “The only thing I can take credit for is opening the door. He did everything else for himself. Him and Dave Free.”

He concludes with:

“He’s one of those artists we call a ‘forever artist.’ He can disappear for five years and come back to fuck our heads up.”
