A few years ago, Stavo hinted that there wouldn’t be a “Blo III”. While the members of 13 Block have remained on good terms, they decided to focus on their solo careers. Following the impactful projects of Oldpee and the bold “TVX” by Stavo, it is now Zed’s turn to shine with “Malcolm”. This project, a tribute to Malcolm X, opens with a direct nod to the iconic Spike Lee movie, further amplifying its impact right from the introductory visuals of the album Zedeude 60. Hailing from Sevran, the epicenter of French rap, Zed continues his journey with confidence and conviction.

Before the curtain falls on 2024, the rapper has unveiled the music video for “Hockey”, a collaboration with La Mano 1.9. The latter, who is increasingly making waves in rap projects, recalls the meteoric rise of 2Chainz during his prime in the USA. Together, they deliver a compelling performance steeped in American cultural influences, supported by a powerful visual concept. Zed continues to solidify his steady rise on the French rap scene.

With “Malcolm”, Zed showcases the full breadth of his artistic range, combining creativity with depth. Just as Stavo’s “TVX” was 0% Zumba, “Malcolm” also resists conventional formats. While the rapper explores various musical tones, he retains a distinctive and daring identity throughout.

The explosive instrumental production of “Hockey” is credited to Moc and Sokol. Characterized by a punchy rhythm and polished finish, the track perfectly complements the dynamic exchanges between the two artists. Notably, Moc has already made a name for himself with iconic tracks like “Gun Salute” and “Chien de la casse” for Kaaris, as well as collaborations with Koba LaD and Bolémvn. With “Hockey”, he continues to assert his sonic signature.

The lyrics strike a balance between egotrip and playful humor, punctuated by catchy hooks: “I’m not your buddy, I’m here for the M.O.U.L.A, gotta end my life in Miami or L.A / Shoot, and the whole stadium does the ola (Gang, gang), she sees me on TV, now she’s saying ‘Hello’.”

The video, directed by the talented Harris Kaci, adopts an original square format. Immersed in a high-energy atmosphere, Zed and La Mano 1.9 perform surrounded by hockey players, heightening the project’s dynamic aesthetic. Harris Kaci, who previously worked on “I’m sorry” by La Mano 1.9 and “What we doing?” by Bu$hi and Quavo, once again proves his creative prowess.
