In 2023, TIF unveiled his project “1.6”, featuring a standout collaboration with Flenn. Constantly pushing his musical boundaries, he continues to explore new sounds and notably contributed to a tribute track for Algeria alongside Rim’K and Sofiane Pamart. A highly regarded Algerian artist known for his refined lyricism, TIF reveals another facet of his artistry with his latest single “Hélas”, featuring SDM. Deep and heartfelt, this track candidly explores the doubts faced by both artists while delivering a strong message in support of the Palestinian cause.

A Refined Production Elevating Emotion

Behind the production of “Hélas” is Khalil Cheradi, a composer who has been working with TIF since the very beginning of his career. He is responsible for several of the rapper’s most iconic tracks, including “Amnesia”, “Shadow Boxing”, “Vent du Nord”, and “Mathusalem”. For this new song, he crafts a delicate balance between rhythmic percussion and ethereal instrumentation, adding an enchanting melodic depth that enhances the lyrics.

Introspection and Ego-Trip: Two Contrasting Styles

On one hand, TIF‘s calm and composed voice glides over the instrumental with the fluidity of slam poetry, delivering profound lyrics:

“Emptying the bottle fills up the lines, it’s not at sea that the sirens’ song echoes
Now that I know you, you’re somewhat empty, I understand why you’re so hard to reach.”

Conversely, SDM brings a sharper, more assertive flow, fully embracing the ego-trip style:

“We decline their invites, I fill up the venue myself, it helps clear my mind (Arriba)
I’m behind the wheel of a BMW, while you’re just lingering in my DMs (That’s real).”

An Immersive Video Shot in Algeria

Directed by Chanez Hamdad, the music video for “Hélas” seamlessly transitions between shots of TIF‘s hometown, live performance scenes, and breathtaking Algerian landscapes. The director masterfully plays with the contrast between locations and emotions, amplifying the song’s visual impact. Having previously directed “Shadow Boxing” and “Maylin”, Chanez Hamdad once again demonstrates his ability to elevate TIF‘s artistic universe.

With “Hélas”, TIF and SDM deliver a sincere and powerful track, seamlessly blending introspection and presence. Supported by an elegant production and an immersive visual experience, this striking release is bound to leave a lasting impression.
