Le Bast unveils “Enfant de la Lune”
The symbolism of “Enfant de la Lune” has traveled through time. Originally a poem, it was later turned into a cult Spanish pop song by Mecano, before Soprano and the Psy4 de la Rime transformed it into one of their earliest hits. Today, Le Bast reclaims this musical myth with his own unique interpretation. Backed by a production from Qiu BIDI—a talented composer and pianist—he delivers a ballad steeped in melancholy, resonating as a mirror of the struggles shared by an entire generation.
“I gained wisdom long before my time, I miss the days when I still had the choice not to be wise.”
Through these lines, Le Bast reveals a raw and unfiltered truth. Like other Marseille icons before him—such as Akhenaton in “Même les anges”—he embodies a school of rap where the pen becomes a weapon, “armed with a ballpoint”, to confront hardship and existential crises. His project “Enfant de la Plume” emerges as both deeply personal and universally relatable, turning fragility into a creative strength.
The video, directed by Mayhem Production, immerses us in the everyday life of La Ciotat. With no artifice or excess, it portrays the artist alongside his loved ones, far from any staged posturing. True to himself, Le Bast strips away the masks, rejecting clichés of bling-bling or “thug” bravado. A rare sincerity that gives this project its striking authenticity.
