Kerchak drops “Alicia Ariana”!

Since the release of “Saison 2”, Kerchak hasn’t unveiled a new full-length project. Yet according to the Music Metrics Vault, his total streams are now approaching 620 million — a clear sign of sustained momentum. When the project came out, the artist had already sold over 6,000 copies in its first week. Born in drill, Kerchak has gradually established himself as one of the most inventive artists of his generation. A few weeks ago, he returned to the streets with “D”, a raw, ultra-street track referencing the incarceration — and later release — of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, whose most controversial speech is sampled in the record.

With his latest release, Alicia Ariana, Kerchak completely switches gears: surreal aesthetics, tongue-in-cheek symbolism, and lyrics delivered with intentional offbeat flair.

The instrumental is produced by Franklin. The beatmaker knows the artist well — they’ve already worked together on “T’aimerais”, featuring Ziak, a track distinguished by the use of a live chorister instead of the usual autotune, as well as on the single “Calme-toi”. Franklin is also behind “Ragnar” for SDM. On “Alicia Ariana”, he delivers an unclassifiable production, shifting between different tempos and incorporating highly distinctive sounds that amplify the atmosphere of the track. Kerchak approaches street life with an almost narrative distance:

“To transport the work, I call a youngin or Alicia / and to send out the go’s, we’ll bring Ariana back out”

The visual, completely off-the-wall and far less dark than “D”, is directed by Kilian Langouët and Pierre-Louis Miclo. The former has several music videos to his name — not always within rap — including “Lagos in Paris” by Sinatanale and “Inner Escape” by Lesss. As for Pierre-Louis Miclo, he has just released his short film “Le Roi du Silence”. Together, they deliver a bold and striking visual under the production banner Deux pour Cent Film.
