Bigflo & Oli land in London in March!

The first major breakthrough for Bigflo & Oli in the rap scene came with the track Gangsta, a true manifesto of their artistic vision. Steering clear of the genre’s usual clichés, the two brothers reject the gangster persona: no flashy bling, no twerking vixens in the background. They’ve embraced sincerity — a stance often praised, yet sometimes criticized, as it deviates from the typical macho rapper archetype: vulgar, aggressive, and overflowing with testosterone. But as Tiers noted in an interview with Cosmic Hip-Hop: There’s a rap for every audience. With razor-sharp lyrics, precision flow, and bold artistic choices, Bigflo & Oli have achieved impressive commercial success.

Their project Les autres c’est nous sold over 36,892 copies in its first week. By April 2024, it had earned a double platinum certification. Featuring high-profile collaborations with rap figures like Leto, and iconic French pop voices such as Julien Doré and Francis Cabrel, the album further cemented the Toulouse-based duo’s unique place in the French music landscape.

Today, Bigflo & Oli travel across major capitals, sharing their craft through spontaneous freestyles. From New York to Barcelona and London, their feel-good — yet far from naïve — rap resonates far beyond France’s borders.

The track’s instrumental was produced by Bigflo himself — a common practice for the duo, who self-produce most of their music. This time, he blends subtle samples with classic textures, all layered over a fresh, contemporary beat. On this dynamic production, Bigflo & Oli deliver an introspective, yet ego-driven performance filled with cutting punchlines:

Young crow turned great condor, when you get rich, you sink into comfort
Oli’s not tired, he still wants to crush it, took me a while to admit it, but it’s true, I was wrong
I hide my feelings in Pandora’s box, I watch her smile as she falls asleep (As she falls asleep)

The music video was directed by Bigflo & Oli themselves, alongside Antoine Zago-Honnorat. Shot on the outskirts of London, the video captures moody, suburban landscapes just a stone’s throw from Harry P.’s house. The visuals lean into a deliberately muted palette, with a grayish tone that mirrors London’s melancholic aesthetic. Antoine Zago-Honnorat, who has worked with artists like Solann, brings a cinematic touch — part arty, part sensitive. Beyond music videos, he’s also active in short film production.
