Angèle Explores New Electronic Horizons with “Dis le”

0

With “Brol”, Angèle achieved what few artists manage to do: reconnect an entire generation with French-language pop music. A few years later, the Belgian singer cemented her status with “Nonante-cinq”, a quadruple-platinum album that firmly established her among the defining artists of her generation. Since then, her artistic journey has seemed to move toward new sonic territories. During the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, her reinterpretation of “Nightcall” alongside Kavinsky and Phoenix hinted at a growing fascination with electronic music. A few months later, her collaboration with Justice on “What You Want” only reinforced that impression. Is Angèle in the midst of a genuine electronic transformation?

In an interview with Le Monde, the artist revealed that she is actively working on her third studio album, with the goal of rediscovering the spontaneity that defined her early years. Since the release of “Brol” in 2018, time seems to have flown by, yet fans are still waiting for its successor. Like Damso, with whom she collaborated on “Silence” from “Lithopédion”, Angèle embraces a perfectionist approach that favors quality over haste. As a result, each new release feels carefully crafted rather than rushed to meet industry expectations.

It is within this context that “Dis le”, her latest single, arrives. Far removed from the melancholic softness that characterized some of the songs on “Brol”, the track presents a liberated artist driven by renewed energy and a production firmly rooted in electronic sounds.

Angèle explores a new dimension with “Dis le”

For the songwriting and production, Angèle reunites with one of her closest collaborators, Tristan Salvati. Since the beginning of her career, the musician has played a key role in shaping her artistic identity. He was behind standout tracks such as “Ta reine” and “Oui ou non”, as well as major highlights from “Nonante-cinq”, including “Bruxelles je t’aime” and “Démons”. He also contributed to “Fever”, the international collaboration between Angèle and Dua Lipa. Their renewed partnership once again highlights the creative chemistry that has defined so much of her career.

Musically, “Dis le” stands as one of the most electronic tracks Angèle has released to date. Built around shimmering synth textures, driving rhythms, and a constant sense of tension, the production perfectly complements the song’s message. Angèle seems to embrace this new direction with complete confidence, fully committing to the artistic evolution that has been taking shape in recent years.

The track opens with a thought-provoking reflection that immediately sets the tone:

“To be or to have, no one has ever learned how to conjugate them
Yet having nothing does not mean being nothing.”

The visual was directed by Suzie and Léo, a creative duo renowned for their work across photography, music videos, and artistic direction. The pair have notably collaborated with Swedish rapper Yung Lean and produced several high-profile campaigns, including a recent project involving PSG and Ousmane Dembélé.

On screen, dreamlike imagery blends with feelings of disorientation and youthful abandon. Set against the backdrop of a rave party suspended outside of time, Angèle moves through a world where freedom and uncertainty coexist. The video’s surreal atmosphere, combined with the raw energy of the crowd, creates a visual experience that is both hypnotic and electrifying. More than just a new single, “Dis le” feels like the first step into a bold new chapter of the Belgian singer’s career.
