Isha Milky: The New Voice of The Gambia Reaching Beyond Borders

Singer, content creator, presenter, and digital personality, Isha Milky is emerging as one of the most promising figures of The Gambia’s new generation of artists. Combining music, social media, and a commitment to education, her journey reflects the rise of a young woman determined to take Gambian culture and talent beyond its borders.

Born Isatou Jallow on May 3, 2000, in Jarra Soma, The Gambia, Isha Milky spent part of her childhood in Guinea before returning to her home country in 2007, where she continued her education. Music became a passion from an early age. At just 13, she recorded her first single with her brother, musician Kepsize, laying the foundation for an artistic journey that would later take a much bigger dimension.

After completing her secondary education, Isha pursued studies in Computer Technologies and joined the MRC Holland Foundation, a Dutch non-profit organization committed to improving educational opportunities and infrastructure in less privileged communities, particularly in The Gambia. Through her professional work, she has been involved in initiatives supporting communities and schools across the country. She also continued her studies in Business Management, while developing her artistic career.

From TikTok to the Music Scene

It was through social media that audiences began to truly discover Isha Milky and her personality. Through her videos, particularly those highlighting her creativity and artistic abilities, she gradually built a loyal community.

Isha Milky’s rise on TikTok has been nothing short of remarkable. In August 2025, she made history by surpassing the one-million-follower mark, becoming the first female Gambian-based content creator to achieve this milestone. By 2026, she solidified her status as the most-followed individual in the country. Her influence has quickly extended far beyond West Africa; as of August 2026, her global audience has scaled to more than 1.9 million followers on TikTok, 558k followers on Facebook, 78.2k followers on Instagram, and 46.7k subscribers on YouTube.

Yet Isha Milky does not want to be defined solely as a content creator. Music remains at the heart of her ambitions.

In 2023, her talent caught the attention of Senegalese producer El Maestro Le Kangham, who invited her to Dakar. There, she recorded several songs and began strengthening her connections within the Senegalese and wider West African music industry.

This collaboration eventually led to “Antung Mii Fallah,” her first official music video, marking an important milestone in her development as a recording artist. The song, rooted in an Afro-pop sound, helped introduce Isha Milky to a wider musical audience.

In 2026, she continued her musical journey with “Baby Yoh,” further demonstrating her ambition to establish herself as a singer beyond her success on social media.

A Growing Influence Beyond The Gambia

One of Isha Milky’s greatest strengths is her ability to turn a digital following into a genuine community.

Her influence now extends beyond The Gambia. Her travels across the region have given her an opportunity to experience the reach of her popularity firsthand. In Guinea, Senegal and Sierra Leone, for example, her presence generated considerable excitement among fans, highlighting the growing regional dimension of her influence.

Her growing visibility has also opened doors to prestigious international opportunities. On June 12, 2026, Isatou Jallow (known professionally as Isha Milky) received an official invitation from Zhao ShangSen, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of The Gambia. The invitation was extended to further expand youth interaction and nurture lasting friendships between the two nations. With the structural backing and formal leave approval from her employer, the MRC Holland Foundation, she accepted the prestigious selection.

Consequently, from July 17th to 29th, 2026, she traveled to China as a prominent Gambian delegate for the Youth Development for a Shared Future Summer Camp, organized by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation. Her itinerary spanned across Beijing and Fujian Province, where she engaged in academic lectures, thematic discussions, cultural exchanges, and field visits fully sponsored by the Chinese government. A major personal milestone of the trip included her successful climb to the summit of the Badaling Great Wall, for which she was officially awarded a “Hero Certificate”, marking an impactful chapter as a global ambassador for Gambian youth culture.

An Artist Strongly Supported by Her Fans

One of the clearest demonstrations of the connection between Isha Milky and her audience came in May 3rd 2026.

For her birthday, a simple wish expressed by Isha — owning a car — turned into an extraordinary show of support from her fans in The Gambia and across the diaspora. Within days, supporters raised more than 400,000 Gambian dalasis toward the purchase of her dream car.

Beyond the financial value of the gesture, the initiative demonstrated the unique relationship Isha has built with her community — a relationship driven by music, authenticity, accessibility, and her constant presence on social media.

Her influence has also been recognized within the digital entertainment industry. In December 2025, she received an award at the West African Social Media Awards as TikTok Creator of the Year, recognising her growing impact within the West African digital space.

A New Generation of African Artists

At just 26, Isha Milky stands at the intersection of several worlds: music, digital creativity, entertainment, and community engagement.

Her story reflects the changing nature of Africa’s cultural and entertainment industry. Today, an artist can build an international audience from home, use social media as a first stage, and gradually transform that visibility into a professional music career.

With a community of more than 2.6 million followers, several musical releases, growing recognition across West Africa, and an increasingly international profile, Isha Milky is now entering a new chapter.

Her ambition is clear: to move beyond being a digital phenomenon and establish herself as a Gambian artist with an international presence.

From Jarra Soma to audiences across Africa and beyond, Isha Milky’s journey is a story of talent, determination, cultural pride, and a new generation of African voices finding their place on the global stage.
