Xénon 06: “TPLM LUMIÈRES”, Turning Light Into the Thread of a New Generation

Hailing from France’s 95 area, Xénon 06 has been developing a distinctive sound at the crossroads of new jazz, cloud rap and trap. With “TPLM LUMIÈRES”, the masked rapper continues an artistic journey that began with “Jeune Lumière” and Lumière Humaine Vol.1, turning the idea of light into both an aesthetic motif and a way of expressing his ambition.

Some artists search for a new concept with every release. Others gradually build their own vocabulary. For Xénon 06, one word has kept resurfacing almost from the beginning: light.

Originally from the 95 area and first building an audience on SoundCloud, the young artist began gaining attention in 2023 with “Donatello”, “Jeune Lumière” and “La Crème”, before releasing his debut EP, Lumière Humaine Vol.1. His sound already existed somewhere between new jazz, cloud influences and trap energy.

Behind the mask and the deliberately mysterious identity lies the concept of “Jeune Lumière” — “Young Light” — the idea of an inner energy, a raw talent that everyone carries within themselves and that can ultimately push them to shine.

With “TPLM LUMIÈRES”, Xénon 06 therefore seems less interested in opening an entirely new chapter than in extending an idea that has been present throughout his earliest releases.

From new jazz to a more personal identity

Xénon 06’s trajectory also says something about the new generation of French rap. His identity is not built around a single genre. New jazz, cloud rap, trap, new wave and electronic experimentation can now coexist within the same universe.

This desire to blur boundaries can be heard in his involvement with NEW JAZZ FR, a collective compilation bringing together a new generation of rappers and producers around a hybrid sound combining rap, new wave and electronic experimentation.

It reflects a generation more interested in hybridisation than in respecting the traditional boundaries between rap subgenres — an evolution regularly explored by UrbanTrackz through its coverage of emerging artists and new scenes.

But Xénon is gradually beginning to turn those influences into something more personal.

In 2024, “Mes Nerfs”, featuring B.O Wunna, surpassed 370,000 streams according to his press kit. It was followed by “CHOUA”, accompanied by a narrative-driven music video exploring the decisions that shape our lives.

That period marked the beginning of an artistic direction described as more stripped-back, modern and introspective, without abandoning the identity established through his earlier releases.

Xénon 06 is beginning to build his own territory

His catalogue has also continued to grow. Over three years, Xénon 06’s press kit lists more than fifteen tracks, collaborations with Take A Mic and B.O Wunna, as well as appearances across every volume of NEW JAZZ FR.

Xénon 06 has also made two appearances on Planète Rap within a single year, further signs that a project initially developed within emerging rap circles is gradually reaching a wider audience.

He can therefore no longer simply be described as another artist emerging from the new jazz wave. Xénon 06 is increasingly trying to define what belongs specifically to him.

That is one of the central challenges facing this generation of independent artists: transforming an initial musical aesthetic into a fully realised universe. The construction of an image, narrative and artistic direction is also central to the work developed by Hellsinky around emerging music scenes.

“TPLM LUMIÈRES”: moving forward without erasing the past

This is precisely what makes “TPLM LUMIÈRES” feel coherent within Xénon 06’s journey.

Light is not simply a piece of vocabulary introduced for a new release campaign. It directly echoes “Jeune Lumière”, Lumière Humaine Vol.1 and, more broadly, the way Xénon has been constructing his artistic persona from the beginning.

The idea also extends into the way the artist increasingly approaches his surroundings, his past and his ambitions. Beneath the energy of the tracks and the punchlines, a more introspective dimension is beginning to emerge: looking back at what came before without losing sight of what still needs to be built.

That tension between the past and what comes next has been present in the vocabulary surrounding his character from the start: light as an inner energy, but also as a desire to rise.

From an emerging scene to a recognisable identity

Ultimately, it is this sense of continuity that makes Xénon 06 worth watching.

The mask creates mystery. New jazz, cloud and trap provide the musical language. But light is gradually becoming the defining thread running through the character: the light we carry, the light we search for and the light that allows us to step out of the shadows.

In a scene where sounds and trends can evolve at extraordinary speed, maintaining a strong enough idea to connect several years of music is already a way of standing apart.

With “TPLM LUMIÈRES”, Xénon 06 is therefore doing more than following a trend. He is continuing a process that began several years ago: that of a young artist from the 95 area gradually attempting to transform the aesthetics of a new generation into a recognisable identity of his own.
