Warped is chained to his “Bad Gyal”!

Warped, a rising star from the West Indies, is steadily making his mark on the music scene. While this generation of artists is widely recognized in their home territory, breaking through in mainland France remains a challenge. However, the Guadeloupean artist is proving otherwise. His latest track, “Bad Gyal”, released on Valentine’s Day, has already racked up 90,000 views. A remarkable feat for an independent artist, far beyond what most of his mainland counterparts can claim.

Warped continues to drop new music, building momentum since the release of his 2020 project “La Voix de la Rue”. This project featured major names like François Ladrezeau, Ready Yo, Mel, T Kimp Gee, Digdis, and Misié Sadik. He recently joined Chabine Prod, a well-established Martinican label that helped launch the careers of T-Stone and Ojee.

His latest single, “Sa Ka Bay”, is taking off with 2.4 million views. This energetic track stands in contrast to “Bad Gyal”, which is more intimate and romantic. The term “Bad Gyal”, originating from Jamaican slang, refers to a strong and independent woman. Warped tells the story of a passionate yet perilous relationship, blending desire and danger.

The instrumental production of the track is crafted by Mister Francky, an experienced producer who has worked with Soprano and R.E.D.K on “Le Temps d’une Pause”. He is also behind “Baimbridge Cho” for Admiral-T, as well as “Boss Lady”. His dancehall expertise has also been showcased in his collaborations with Krys, particularly on the album “K-Rysmatik”.

This love song, driven by a slow Caribbean rhythm, incorporates trumpet samples and other classic elements. Warped masterfully creates a unique sonic atmosphere, blending romance with high-energy vibes.

True to his roots, the artist sings in Creole, delivering a powerful love declaration to an elusive woman. The music video, directed by Manuelito, visually portrays this passionate and risky romance with his “Bad Gyal”. Once again, he opts for dreamlike and enchanting landscapes, capturing a sense of escape rather than falling into the flashy excess of mainstream visuals.
