Wael Returns With “Sheytana,” a Story of Love and Disillusion

Wael comes from La Savine, in the northern districts of Marseille. He started rapping at the age of 18, but first began attracting real attention after appearing in a documentary dedicated to Zamdane, the poet from the South of France. Following that appearance, he began releasing a steady stream of singles, particularly from January 2026 onward, including “ARTEFACT”, “VOIX DANS MA TÊTE”, “NUIT BLANCHE”, “DEMAIN”, “HOLD UP”, “VU D’ICI”, and later “LOS ANGELES” in June 2026. The Marseille rapper mainly stands out for his ability to spit, as well as for his thoughtful and honest lyrics. Like Zamdane, he is clearly a lover of words.

The artist is now back with “Sheytana”, a track centered around a materialistic woman driven by self-interest. IAM explored a similar theme with “Elle donne son corps avant son nom”, while French rap has also given us tracks such as “Starfuckeuse” by Rohff and “Pourvu qu’elle m’aime” by Booba. All of these songs revolve around femme fatale figures who use men to get what they want. Male rappers are not the only ones to address this kind of character either: Marwa Loud also references it in her track “Fallait Pas”. It is very much in that tradition that Wael delivers “Sheytana”.

The track’s instrumental production is handled by Guapo. The producer was also credited on “Été solitaire” by Zamdane. The production itself remains fairly stripped back: no overloaded drill drums and no heavy Atlanta-style trap. Like his friend Zamdane, Wael enjoys rapping over simple instrumentals without unnecessary embellishment. On “Sheytana”, he tells a story that many men who have crossed paths with materialistic women may recognize:

“It’s been two months and you’re still trying to get back in touch with her, you’ll end up drowning your pain at the bottom of a bottle of Daniel’s. Every guy thinks he has a chance with her, even though they warned you she’d already been around the whole neighborhood.”

The visual was directed by 6real. With Mehdi Moussaoui helping shape the screenplay, the director brings the story of “Sheytana” to life on screen. He has previously directed “Burn Pit” by Oldpee, as well as “Focuss” and “Même endroit” by RVZMO.
