Shelly is an artist from Cayenne, in French Guiana. With the release of her debut project, an EP titled “Yana Empress”, available since this Friday, she aims to establish herself as one of the rising voices in the French-speaking dancehall scene. Raised in a musical environment blending church singing and urban influences, she developed a strong artistic sensibility from an early age—something that resonates throughout the entire project.
Her sound, deeply rooted in Jamaican dancehall discovered during her childhood, is also shaped by broader urban music influences. This diversity is fully reflected in “Yana Empress”, a project that marks a key milestone in her career, allowing her to assert a strong identity and a distinctive artistic direction.
The EP’s title refers both to Guiana — “Yana” — and to the figure of an empress — “Empress”. Through this project, Shelly proudly represents her roots while positioning herself within an international framework.
Signed to Jahyanai’s label, she benefits from guidance that has already helped bring artists like Bamby, Craazy, and Wahwaah to the forefront.
A promising project worth discovering, hinting at a strong future for Shelly on the current music scene.
