Seth Gueko pays tribute to Traveller legends

Seth Gueko belongs to that rare category of artists who have become truly essential figures in the history of French rap. Nicknamed the “Professor Punchline” for years, the rapper has built a unique identity within the French scene, balancing an outrageous persona, a deliberately raw aesthetic, and a genuine obsession with lyricism. Behind the hardcore image and unapologetic provocations, Seth Gueko has always maintained a dense, technical writing style deeply rooted in rap culture.

Back in 2019, during an interview with Booska-P for the release of his album “Destroy”, Seth Gueko reflected on modern French rap and the evolution of the new generation: « Je suis arrivé dans le rap en connaissant mes classiques. »

After spending the last few years keeping a relatively low media profile, Seth Gueko is now preparing his major comeback with a brand-new album titled “Saint-Sauveur”, scheduled for release on May 29th. The project features an impressive lineup including Dinos, Faf Larage, Akhenaton, 404Billy, X-Men, Jungle Jack, Perso, Big Twins, and Lacrim. More than just a stacked list of collaborations, the album feels like a gathering of several generations of rappers connected by their dedication to lyricism and authentic street rap traditions.

It is a fitting direction for an artist who has always placed writing at the core of his artistic identity. Since the beginning of his career, Seth Gueko has stood out for his ability to combine dark humor, street slang, pop culture references, and intricate wordplay within an instantly recognizable universe.

Alongside the album announcement, Seth Gueko recently released the track “Légende du voyage”. Following in the footsteps of cult tracks like “Patate de forain”, the rapper pays tribute to the Traveller community, a population that still regularly faces discrimination, prejudice, and social marginalization.

The production is handled by Jokillbeatz. On Genius, the producer is notably credited on several tracks by Nitdoff. Here, the instrumental perfectly matches the universe Seth Gueko has been building for years: heavy basslines, catchy sampling, and a dark atmosphere that gives the rapper plenty of room to deliver dense, vivid, and deeply personal lyricism.

Throughout the track, the artist multiplies street references and expressions drawn from his own culture and background:

« Dans chaque caravane, il y a une carabine »

« On va te marrave si tu poucaves, et personne ne te secourra »

The music video was filmed alongside the Lopez clan, to whom Seth Gueko directly pays tribute throughout the song. The visual was directed by Wissiz, a longtime collaborator already known for directing visuals such as “Woody Woodpecker” and “Marginal”. Staying true to the rapper’s universe, the video immerses viewers in a raw, grounded aesthetic deeply inspired by Traveller culture and imagery.
