SDM says “Merci”!

It feels like a long time since SDM celebrated his first gold record with “Ocho” during a party attended by VIPs of the rap game. His project “Liens du 100”, released in 2022, sold nearly 13,000 copies in its first week. After a brief pause, which didn’t stop him from doing some prestigious features, notably with Guy2bezbar on “DIS-MOI”, the dark artist from 92i announces “À la vie à la mort” for the new school year and unveils “Merci”.

The instrumental production of this track is by BBP. It has been a while since the jewel of QLF Records was just making tracks for PNL, like he did with the hits “Naha” and “Onizuka”. Now, he also collaborates with SCH on the track “Cannelloni” and with DA Uzi on “Michael Jordan”. Although the title “Merci” suggests a joyful tone, similar to “Grateful” by DJ Khaled, the production, with a piano base, is dark.

SDM expresses his gratitude in “Merci”, but he also recounts the hardships that brought him here. The challenges have been tough: “A son of a bitch teacher tried to make me believe I had gorilla genes (Fuck his whore mother)” or “We almost ended up in jail several times (Real), threatened with eviction from our room (Ouh)”. However, the result is clear: “The game at my mercy (At my mercy), I thank the sky (Oh yeah, I thank)”.

Over time, SDM seems to be becoming the closest protégé of his mentor Booba among those who share 92i, 7Corp, and Piraterie Music. The black-and-white visuals enhance the solemnity of the work. Kidhao is at the helm, bringing his talent. He made a name for himself with Jewel Usain, directing most of the clips for his latest project “Où les garçons grandissent”. And we know the rapper is creative.
