Romsii Continues His Artistic Rise with the Introspective Video for “Autour du feu”

Romsii stands apart in today’s French rap landscape. For years, French urban music was closely tied to street credibility, and any attempt to incorporate pop or electronic influences was often viewed as a betrayal of hip-hop’s core identity. While R&B dominated the American charts throughout the early 2000s, much of the French rap scene deliberately distanced itself from those sounds. Rohff famously summed up that mindset in “On fait les choses” with the line: “La vague R’n’B, je la ferai mieux chanter dans sa chambre.” More recently, the public disagreements between Booba and journalist Mehdi Maïzi over the guests featured on “Le Code” highlighted the same debate surrounding rap’s evolution. Yet the phenomenal success of artists such as Sexion d’Assaut, Gims, Dadju, and Aya Nakamura, who blended rap with pop, Afro influences and contemporary music, helped redefine the genre. It is within this new generation—one no longer confined by stylistic boundaries—that Romsii has carved out his own distinctive artistic identity.

In 2025, Romsii introduced “Lola”, an ambitious project that seamlessly fused rap, alternative pop, electronic music, and French chanson. Rather than relying on an extensive guest list, he deliberately kept the project intimate, inviting only two collaborators: Rosaliedu38, one of France’s most promising young producers, and Kofi Bae. With his new EP “Autour du feu” (Around the Fire), he continues to explore that artistic direction, placing emotion, melody, and cinematic atmospheres at the heart of his music. The project also features Moha MMZ, whose artistic evolution since the release of “La Plage” mirrors Romsii’s own desire to create introspective, boundary-pushing music rooted in personal storytelling.

The instrumental was produced by Marty Bogo. The producer is notably credited on “Sangote” by Guy2Bezbar and frequently collaborates with Lujipeka, former member of Columbine, whose music blends alternative rap, pop influences, and emotionally charged songwriting. Here, Marty Bogo delivers a stripped-back, understated production built around delicate guitar arpeggios and minimalist instrumentation. The track deliberately blurs the lines between French chanson, pop, and rap, creating the perfect backdrop for Romsii‘s introspective writing. Against this intimate soundscape, he reflects on the passing of time, the sacrifices that come with pursuing an artistic career, and the uncertainty experienced by a generation still searching for its place in the world.

Much like “Lola”, Romsii once again gives voice to a generation grappling with loneliness, uncertainty, and everyday anxiety. Without resorting to melodrama or overly explicit autobiography, he captures universal emotions with remarkable subtlety, offering an honest portrait of young people searching for purpose, balance, and hope.

The music video was directed by Valentin Rey, following the always-masked Romsii through the streets of Paris. From the banks of the Seine to bustling cafés and iconic neighborhoods, the camera adopts a contemplative style that celebrates the quiet poetry of everyday life. Through elegant, minimalist cinematography, Valentin Rey portrays the vulnerability, dreams, and aspirations of a generation trying to find its place in an ever-changing world. This new chapter in Romsii’s career will also include two major Paris performances at L’Olympia and L’Élysée Montmartre, further confirming his steady rise within the French music scene.
