Prototype Returns With New Single “Caméra 4K”

Prototype is a rapper from Melun who grew up in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, in the 93 area. Before launching his solo career in 2019, he was a member of the group Lutheck. Following a series of freestyles titled “Snake”, he went on to collaborate with a number of artists, including Jok’Air in 2021 and Franglish in 2023. In 2025, he released “Le Retour du roi”, featuring collaborations with UZI, Merveille, Lisandro Cuxi, L2B, La Fouine, Melvin Coser, Ryflo and Fabregas Le Métis Noir. Musically, Prototype is an artist in a constant state of reinvention.

Perhaps the best way to introduce Prototype is to let him do it himself. Five years ago, he told Hypesoul in an interview: “I’m a melodic rapper from the 93 who tells stories about his life and the streets in the smallest detail.” He was indeed among the early artists to bring a strongly melodic approach into French rap. Five years ago, this was far less common than it is today. Now, almost every rapper has at least one melodic track on their projects, even some of the most street-oriented artists.

Prototype is now back with “Caméra 4K”, accompanied by a music video directed by Owen Still and shot through the streets of Paris in a fiery atmosphere.

The instrumental was produced by American beatmaker Mig. The American producer has already worked with a French artist, having produced “Cause à effet” for Take a Mic. Although the two tracks sound very different, the way Prototype rides this powerful production is somewhat reminiscent of “Tyler Herro” by Jack Harlow. The sonic palette is completely different, and Mig’s production feels much grander in scale, but there is definitely a similarity in the momentum and flow of the track.

Prototype sounds perfectly at home in this atmosphere, blending melodic elements with a distinctly street edge while dropping a few memorable punchlines along the way:

“You wanted it, now you’ve got it, but don’t try to flash the cash with her — she already knows that trick.”

The visuals were directed by Owen Still. Prototype and his crew take over the streets of Paris and look completely at home in the city. Owen Still has worked extensively with Prototype, notably directing the videos for “European Star”, “La Calle me chante”, “Ride” and “Le Donneur”.
