Pit Baccardi redefines his Ambition!

0
It’s the big comeback of Pit Baccardi. In the 1990s, the rapper left his mark on French hip-hop history as a member of the Secteur Ä collective, through Time Bomb, and with the legendary Première Classe compilations. The veteran is set to celebrate 25 years in the game on stage at L’Olympia on July 25. A night that promises to be a true journey through time, revisiting timeless classics like Si loin—often described as a French Dear Mama—as well as J’ai vu and La rue. With the strength of his pen and his unique sense of phrasing, he remains, even today, one of the undeniable pioneers of French rap culture.

To mark this return, the artist brings several new tracks, including Chiffres Romains, recorded alongside his brother Dosseh. A brotherly collaboration that reignites the magic of two writers with soldier-like discipline and sincerity.

He keeps the momentum going with a brand-new single: Ambition. A track that serves as a manifesto for Pit Baccardi, now entering his twenty-sixth year in the business. Don’t expect drill, trap, or dance-pop here: staying true to his DNA, the rapper sticks to the sound that birthed him and the streets that raised him.

The production is handled by a trio of beatmakers: Bone Collector, prod.by X-Plosive, and Haze. Behind the X-Plosive alias is German producer Thomas Kessler, the mastermind behind numerous French hits such as 92i Veyron, 3G, and Éléphant by Booba, as well as Rouge et Bleu with Kalash—a relic of a bygone era following the fallout between the two artists. Bone Collector, based in Los Angeles, has worked with French rappers like Mala, Ninho, and La Fouine. Meanwhile, Haze Beats has become a staple of the new generation, producing for the likes of Kekra, Timal, and Fresh La Douille. The result: a classic track in spirit, driven by piano chords and a rhythm that echoes the raw energy of the 1990s.

Lyrically, Pit Baccardi tips his hat to Ärsenik and their iconic Boxe avec les mots:

Faire de l’ombre à la foudre / Boxer avec mes mots / Comme les deux frères de Villiers-le-Bel

He also touches on a recurring theme in rap: distrust of friends, torn between disillusionment and true brotherhood:

La galère rend fort ça / c’est ma thèse 2025 / Fini les potes ça me sert à rien / Si on se parle encore c’est que c’est devenu fraternel

True to his rebellious spirit, Pit Baccardi keeps a political edge in his verses, even when his critiques are woven into broader social commentary:

Donnez le ballon d’or à Dembouz au lieu de polémiquer sur sa femme voilée

The video perfectly illustrates this comeback: a determined Pit Baccardi behind the wheel of a luxury car, surrounded by his presidential guard. Direction comes from Hypnoz, who’s become omnipresent in recent years, previously behind Sans Boussole by Maes, Brother Mouzone freestyle by Dinos, and Feu by Pit Baccardi.
