Moubarak, signed to Jul’s label, initially stood out for his stylistic closeness to his mentor. In 2024, he reached a new level by releasing two EPs, “Épreuves” and “Tout droit”, where he occasionally experimented with different sounds. However, with his latest single “Tête qui chauffe”, he returns to a more authentic, boom bap foundation, reminiscent of Jul’s recent freestyle “Inarrêtable”.
Moubarak is “On Fire”!
The instrumental for the track was crafted by Kwary, a beatmaker who has been working with Moubarak for several years. Kwary notably produced standout tracks like “Sur le ring” and “L’âme abîmée” for the rapper, and also worked on “Ma Gentillesse” with Jul. The production breathes boom bap from the ’90s, delivering a true old-school rap vibe.
In the video, Moubarak stands over the heights of Marseille, narrating his experiences with authenticity. The visuals were directed by Db r, who is responsible for most of Moubarak’s music videos. His previous work includes the videos for “Corps Griffé”, “Cristalline”, and “Bousiller”.
