On February 5th, Moubarak unveiled his project Solide, featuring standout collaborations with Ghost Dog and !Grek. Since then, the artist has kept up a steady stream of releases, further asserting his musical identity. A close affiliate of Jul, Moubarak initially drew inspiration from the Marseille icon before carving out his own path. Driven by a unique sensitivity, he has spent the past few years crafting a distinctive style—deeply melancholic and introspective. His latest single, Cerveau Grillé, follows that same trajectory, offering a raw and disillusioned take on the contradictions of everyday life.
Moubarak drops Cerveau Grillé!
The track’s production is handled by the duo Abys One and Zaka2054. Abys One, a renowned beatmaker, has frequently collaborated with Alonzo on tracks like Squat, B.G, On craint dégun, and Tu vas parler. His creative partner, Zaka2054, often works alongside him, together forging a powerful sonic identity. On Cerveau Grillé, the pair delivers a stripped-back instrumental built around delicate piano notes, over which Moubarak‘s muffled voice—intentionally subdued for effect—lands with precision. Through the lyrics, the rapper navigates a life caught between loyalty, disillusionment, and emotional survival.
They’ll forget you for a bill / We know hardship / we don’t wish it on you
Directed by Drb, the music video is set against the Marseille coastline. The visuals follow Moubarak as he wanders in a state of quiet reflection, rapping toward the sea—a metaphor for distant peace or unattainable escape. This isn’t the first collaboration between Drb and the artist: he previously crafted all the visuals for Cicatrices, a concept album where Moubarak deliberately chose to remain off-screen, letting the imagery speak for itself.
