Manny: “Mode RS”, a raw title!

0

Manny, one of the pioneers of French rap with his group “Carré Rouge”, follows in the footsteps of the founders of IAM, FF, and 3ème Œil, who laid the foundations of a musical genre that has become the most listened to music in France since 2019. Despite some opinions about the “urban” qualification, considered of little interest due to the differences it encompasses, this genre “has come out of the cellar”, now manifesting itself everywhere, with Manny as one of its guardians.

Manny: “Shootstar” “Recharged”!

Last February, the artist from “Carré Rouge” made his comeback with “Shootstar”. In this EP, he collaborates with Stavo and AM La Scampia. Although the Marseille rapper and his Sevran counterpart have little stylistic common ground, they both represent the new generation. Manny goes well beyond the realm of the rap that propelled him to the top in the 2000s. Like artists such as Rim’K, he becomes a focal point for generations by adapting his rap to the 2020s.

Manny has just “Recharged” his EP with 4 unreleased tracks. Since April 26, 2024, these new tracks have been enriching the playlist of “Shootstar”. The visual for “Mode RS”, taken from this reissue, was unveiled on the same day.

Manny: “Mode RS”, a raw title!

The instrumental production of the track is signed by JAYSx and Shadro. The latter, a Marseille beatmaker, has already composed the track “Winterlove” for SAF. As for JAYSx, a multi-platinum producer, he mainly operates within the circle of Lacrim, having notably contributed to tracks like “Code Barre” and “La Passat”. The instrumental composition aims to be both fresh and raw.

The artist uses the vocoder very sparingly on the refrain, adding a quite particular gimmick. In terms of punchlines, Manny loses none of his impertinence: “I had nothing, what I have, I took it” / “I no longer count the mistakes I’ve made”.

The visual was shot in Tangier, in a dreamlike landscape, by MK Production. The rapper evolves in luxury, symbolizing success, thus becoming an icon of French rap. MK Production also recently collaborated with Ash on the third episode of his EP, presented in the form of a film.
