Leto speaks in « Zanpakuto »!

In 2025, Leto releases the project « Life », a pivotal moment in his discography. With this record, the rapper broadens his musical range by exploring more rhythm-driven tracks, sometimes stepping away from the strict codes of pure rap, while still preserving the DNA that defines his identity. From his early days within PSO Thug to his first solo steps with the « Trap$tar » mixtapes, Leto has always remained deeply rooted in rap culture.

Aware, however, of the risk of drifting away from his core audience, he quickly returns to his foundations with the mixtape « Thug Ceremony », a project firmly anchored in rap. The release stands out thanks to a strong lineup of features, including Niska, Joé Dwèt Filé, 1PLIKÉ140, La Mano 1.9, IDS, Zed and Jeune Morty. It is within this context that the artist unveils the visual for « Zanpakuto », a sharp and hard-hitting track that perfectly embodies the spirit of the project.

The instrumental production of the track is handled by D2F, a long-time collaborator of Leto. The producer has previously left his mark on the rapper’s universe with tracks such as « L’Escalier », « BM ou Merco » and « Roronoa Zoo ». D2F has also produced records for JO2S and Skefre, further establishing his distinctive sonic signature.

The production of « Zanpakuto » remains unapologetically rap-oriented, driven by a solid rhythm and a selection of samples that carry a subtle retro flavor, without ever slipping into boom bap territory. Leto delivers a steady stream of punchlines with the confidence and humor he is known for, dropping sharp and memorable lines:

« Millions flowing into the company, we’ll come get you even if you’re in Minnesota ».

The visual, blending neighborhood-shot footage with sequences generated through artificial intelligence, is directed by Léo Mazzoni. A familiar name within Leto’s creative circle, the director had previously collaborated with him on the video for « Trahison pour du Papers ». He has also helmed notable visuals for Mister You and Ninho on « 34 », as well as for RK and several rappers from the 77 area on « 77 Degrés ».
