After a decade-long hiatus, Khemiss El Kalif, a prominent figure in the Yvelines rap scene, makes a notable comeback with his new album PHANTOM, scheduled for release on May 17, 2025. This project signifies an artistic rebirth, reflecting his unwavering passion for hip-hop.
Promising Beginnings
Hailing from the 78 region, Khemiss El Kalif began his career in 2006 as a beatmaker. He quickly gained recognition by producing for a young talent from his city, already known locally. This experience led him to explore songwriting, resulting in his first track, Si je t’aime pas, followed by several others that solidified his reputation.
A Pivotal Collaboration
Meeting Sayd des Mureaux, an influential producer in the area, marked a turning point in his career. Encouraged by Sayd, Khemiss El Kalif co-founded the label El Pibe de Oro Records with his friend Feday. In 2012, he released his first mixtape, Cortège de Peine, which was well-received, followed by the 2015 EP Tout en du Building.
Silence and Rebirth
Personal challenges temporarily distanced him from the music scene. However, in 2025, driven by an undiminished passion for hip-hop, he returns with PHANTOM, a project produced by Sayd des Mureaux and Ridfabulous. This new work promises to reflect his journey, struggles, and unwavering love for music.
Khemiss El Kalif embodies resilience and steadfastness to his artistic convictions. His return with PHANTOM is a tribute to the perseverance and passion that drive true hip-hop artisans.
