Kerchak unveils the allegory COCVINV!

0

Kerchak releases his opus Saison 2 with BlueSky in early January 2024, featuring standout collaborations with Killemv, Ziak, Dinos, RnBoi, Houdi, and Gambi. Kerchak stands out in the dark world of Drill & Jersey, where France has become a major force alongside Chicago, New York, and London. Early in the year, in an interview for the magazine Views, he spoke about the influence of Kaaris, a pioneer of French trap with his album Or Noir: “I was a huge fan. I’ve always admired what Kaaris does. The fact that he called me, gave me support, and follows what I’m doing really meant a lot to me. He’s a real down-to-earth guy, a true legend. I loved the session we did together.” With Or Noir, Kaaris didn’t just introduce trap in France; he opened an era where visuals and lyrics reflect the harsh realities of urban life.

The instrumental production is crafted by Franklin. This beatmaker and guitarist, also signed to BlueSky, has been a key figure supporting French rappers for several years. He’s the creative mind behind tracks like Corleone II by Lacrim and Jeux d’échec by SDM. He also collaborated with Kerchak and Ziak on the track T’aimerais, reintroducing a female vocalist to rap—something rarely seen since the rise of autotune. Staying true to his style, Franklin delivers a dark production with Kerchak‘s haunting flow, creating a powerful ambiance that captivates listeners without even needing a visual.

The lyrics tackle a disturbing theme: a drug that’s gaining ground across Europe. “I’ve barely known her for an hour, and I’m already at her place / Cocaïna, she’s got pure in her joint (Cocaïna, cocaïna)” and “I won’t look back once I’m on the road, and if God has a plan, tell me who can stop it?” Similar to Niro, who addressed this topic in his track Printemps blanc—studied in some high schools as a drug prevention tool—Kerchak sheds light on the destructive impact of this substance.

The video is brilliantly conceived, turning cocaine, the central theme, into a seductive, alluring woman: she captivates, conquers, and enslaves. In a dark, oppressive atmosphere, Kerchak moves through a universe blending allegory and horror. The video, directed by Baebymama, captures this intense vision. The director has previously made a mark with videos like Snatch by Mac Tyer and Koba LaD and Le feu by Wejdene, which also marked a stylistic shift for the performer of Anissa.
