After the resounding success of the first volume, which brought together all generations of Marseille rap, the artist kicks off this new chapter with “Bande Organisé 2”, showcasing the fresh wave of Marseille rap talent. Just a few weeks later, he strikes again by gathering the crème de la crème of Marseille rap with “Sous le soleil”, a pure rap track that proudly flies the flag for the city. Undoubtedly, the final track of the album, which features around a hundred rappers, will cement the “13 Organisé” project in the annals of French rap legend. Today, when no one expected it—except for his loyal fans, always on the lookout for surprises from their idol—Jul drops the explosive “Freestyle inarrêtable”.
Jul is, without a doubt, “unstoppable”!
The Marseille artist made a thunderous debut in 2014 with the album “Dans ma Paranoïa”. From that album on, the Phocéen set the foundations of a distinctive style, which Mouloud Achour would later dub in his show “Clique” as “Jul’s sound”. This infectious and captivating style first took root in Marseille, before spreading to Paris and eventually conquering Europe. According to Jul himself, his influence even reached as far as Sweden. This unique style, which immediately resonated with the public, allowed him to rack up gold and platinum records from the very start of his career. He even went as far as founding his own label, aptly named “D’or et de Platine”. However, this meteoric rise didn’t initially sit well with the “guardians of the temple” of Hip-Hop, often the pioneers of the French rap scene. Akhenaton, for instance, said in an interview with BFM TV that he agreed to participate in “13 Organisé”, but only on the condition that his track was autotune-free.
Indeed, Jul is not a constant user of autotune. In the past, he delivered memorable freestyles on Skyrock, lasting over ten minutes, without any autotune or melodic accompaniment. Time and again, he has proven that his style, which has propelled him to become the best-selling French rapper since 2019, is a conscious artistic choice. You can also find him rapping without autotune on tracks like “La Zone en personne” or during his collaborations with IAM on “13 Organisé”.
After the tidal wave of “13 Organisé 2”, Jul returns with a freestyle free of autotune, paired with a distinctly old-school instrumental. For the duration of the track, he transforms, delivering raw and incisive punchlines over a beat that breathes the spirit of 90s Marseille, with a subtle nod to the soundtrack of the original Taxi. True to himself, Jul delights his audience and has fun. In fact, the track is already trending as the third most popular on YouTube today.
