FRERO 110 GN is an artist from Strasbourg, a discreet yet essential figure in conscious and politically engaged French rap. Active on the hip-hop scene since the 1990s, he has carved out a singular path marked by notable collaborations with DJ Cut Killer, Demi Portion, La Rumeur, and Torch. Alongside his career as an artist, he has built a sustained body of work as a producer and promoter, organizing numerous events with American and European artists, thereby establishing a truly international profile.

As a rapper, Frero 110 GN has never abandoned the political commitment that defined the pioneers of French rap. This guiding principle runs consistently through his body of work. With Elysium, released in 2022, he was already exploring a dystopian universe—a mirror held up to the excesses and failures of contemporary humanity. Rezilien follows directly in the footsteps of that project, deepening the artistic vision developed by Frero 110 GN: a world under constant strain, structured by violence, yet one in which resilience remains an irreducible force.

In 2025, the artist released the Hail Mary Freestyle, filmed in New York during a formative journey to meet the legendary figures of New York rap. With Rezilien, he extends this conceptual approach, revisiting the narrative and philosophical foundations of Elysium and placing them within an even darker, more contemporary temporal frame.

Following in the tradition of major political thinkers—from Rabelais and his Gargantua to Rousseau, Voltaire, and Montesquieu, who criticized power through indirect and allegorical means—Frero 110 GN adopts a similar strategy. By projecting himself into a futuristic world dominated by authoritarianism and money, the Strasbourg-based rapper delivers a blunt critique of an increasingly brutal society. In an age of hyper-violence, paradoxically, it is a rapper who chooses to raise his voice.

Rooted in the scarred land of Haiti, Frero 110 GN carries the marks of his personal history. From the very opening of the track, excerpts from speeches by Mutabaruka and Frantz Fanon deepen the political and indigenous dimensions of the song, anchoring Rezilien in a collective memory shaped by struggle, resistance, and transmission.

Released on December 21st, the day of the winter solstice, the track carries powerful symbolism: the longest night of the year, but also the precise moment when the light begins to return. Inspired by peoples who, throughout history, have risen again in the face of oppression and crisis, Rezilien resonates strongly with today’s global geopolitical climate. The song oscillates between poetic reflection and a warning signal, questioning the ability of societies to survive noticeable darkness.

Both author, composer, and performer, Frero 110 GN also signs the instrumental production of the track, positioning himself at both the origin and the conclusion of the piece. Musically, Rezilien blends a futuristic aesthetic with textures inherited from the 1990s: ethereal soul, ambient vocals, organic drum breaks, and hypnotic synthesizer layers. The dense, immersive soundscape plunges the listener into a sensory dystopia—at once oppressive and threaded with hope.

In the introductory text published on YouTube, FRERO 110 GN writes:

“In a futuristic world where violence, hyper-control, and the obsession with performance have reduced humanity to a form of modern slavery, Rezilien emerges as a cry, a resistance, a vital pulse.”

The music video was filmed in Dubai by YRM Films. The director alternates between live-action sequences and visuals generated through artificial intelligence. The team nevertheless faced challenges in promoting the video due to the brief appearance of an image of Donald Trump within the clip. The billionaire and former U.S. president remains one of the public figures who best understands the mechanics of social media.
