Franglish dropped his album AURA x G-WAVE this past April. A well-crafted project, it climbed straight to number three on the French Albums Chart, landed 29th in Wallonia, and reached 49th in Switzerland. No stranger to major success, the artist is frequently labeled as “mainstream” — a tag he recently addressed in an interview with Skuuurt.
“I never tried to be mainstream. I just made my music, enjoyed it, and then it became popular. They put me in the mainstream box, but I never asked for it. I create my tracks my way, I vibe with my music, and I want people to vibe with it too. But I didn’t chase being mainstream. For example, one of my recent tracks, ‘Position’, became a hit. If you’d asked me before, I wouldn’t have seen that coming. To hear it on big stations like NRJ, to go number one, go platinum, that fast — especially with a song like that, in that style — I didn’t think it would blow up like that.”
Franglish continues to shine a spotlight on the album with his latest release, Décembre à décembre, accompanied by a freshly dropped visual. Energetic and impactful, the track perfectly captures the artistic essence he’s been building since day one.
Franglish is here from “Décembre à Décembre”!
The production is handled by Ponko, longtime collaborator of Hamza since the 1994 album. He’s also behind several key tracks for Damso, including the standout singles Passion, Perplexe, and BXL Zoo (featuring Hamza). This time around, he delivers a high-octane beat infused with baile funk influences — the perfect backdrop for Franglish’s signature flow.
The artist lays down a smooth and confident egotrip over a driving rhythm:
“Me fais pas perdre mon temps, hey (Nah)
Ma montre, c’est de l’argent, hey (My watch)
J’me fais plus recaler, hey
Encaisser, on fait ça tout l’temps (Every day)”
The music video is directed by Maxime Fourmont, based on an original concept by Franglish himself. As the artist’s official photographer, Maxime Fourmont follows him closely — even on stage — and delivers a visual that lives up to the track’s energy.
