Demdy and Rad Cartier take us into the world of afro-retro with Juste une nuit!

0

Demdy is a talented artist hailing from Orléans. In 2020, he paid tribute to a close friend, Keram, who tragically passed away, by releasing a self-titled album that includes several notable collaborations. Among them, a collaboration with Keram himself, serving as a poignant testament to their bond. Since then, Demdy has refined a hybrid musical style, skillfully blending traditional afro rhythms with retro and electro sounds. He describes his style as afro-retro, a smooth harmony that fuses all the influences that have shaped this Parisian artist. Today, he makes his return with the EP Mango Chanel, a true invitation to escape, along with the captivating visuals of Juste une nuit, featuring Rad Cartier.

The instrumental production of this track is signed by the duo Smooth & Wesson. Working closely with Demdy throughout the creation of Mango Chanel, they produced almost six of the tracks on the EP, which is the majority of the project. As announced, Juste une nuit perfectly embodies the afro-retro style that defines the artist. Steering clear of typical reggaeton hooks or fast-paced rhythms, Demdy gently lays down his vocals over a melodic chorus enhanced with delicate effects. The result? A true invitation to travel and escape.

The music video, directed by Lucie Sémété, enhances this enchanting atmosphere. Shot in a 4:3 format with a dreamy style, the visuals highlight Demdy’s talents. The deep red background intensifies the track’s unique vibe, while the director, who recently worked on the video for Isalé by Yarden, continues to impress with her artistic approach.
