Busta Flex announces “The Last Day of Hip Hop”!

“Every day, I fully commit to my job!” To fully appreciate Busta Flex‘s impact on French rap, especially during its golden age, it’s essential to have experienced the 1980s. Since his very first album “Busta Flex”, this artist has never stopped creating. He marks his return with a new work titled “TCLV”, from which the poignant track “The Last Day of Hip Hop” is taken, and for which he recently released the video.

Busta Flex announces “The Last Day of Hip Hop”!

Busta Flex collaborates with DJ Rash on the production of this track. This beatmaker, having significantly contributed to the artist’s latest project, also appears alongside Deen Burbigo on “A Certain Something” and with Namor on “Breaking the Chains”. In the realm of French rap veterans, two currents stand out: those who, like Rim’K from 113, have managed to adapt their work to modern sounds like Trap and Drill; and those who, as staunch guardians of their roots, believe their era of hip-hop was the most authentic. While Rim’K is innovating with a decidedly 2step track, Busta Flex pays a vibrant tribute to the ’90s rap with an instrumental typical of that decade. The production, meticulously crafted, incorporates a gypsy song sample from an Emir Kusturica film, providing an undeniable rhythmic power.

Beyond Boom Bap, the ’90s saw the rise of prominent street poets. The lyrical ease of Disiz, or specifically Busta Flex, perfectly illustrates this era. The rapper delivers his punchlines with remarkable ease:

"It's the last day of hip-hop,
(brrrrt) Take that in your face, I'm stoned like Iggy Pop (ha),
Don't give a damn about the new generation, there's only bad students"

and:

"I'm in mourning, rolling a three-paper like Adidas."

The black and white video is directed by Fred Merci and Sully Sefil. Sully Sefil, a rapper emblematic of this era, collaborates with Busta Flex to celebrate the rebirth of an everlasting style.
