Aya Nakamura makes a powerful comeback with Chimiyé!

Aya Nakamura, the French icon lighting up the global stage

Since her meteoric rise, Aya Nakamura has established herself as a dominant force in urban music. From the moment her album Aya was released, she earned a gold certification in the Netherlands and captivated audiences worldwide with her distinctive style. Yet, in France, the artist who performed with the French Foreign Legion during the Paris Olympics opening ceremony is often the target of “Aya bashing” from certain media outlets. But whether adored or criticized, one thing is certain: she never goes unnoticed. Following the massive success of Nakamura and DNK, featuring collaborations with Kim, Tiakola, and SDM, she returns to the spotlight with her new single, Chimiyé, proving once again that she thrives on boldness.

Aya Nakamura makes a powerful comeback with Chimiyé!

The production of Chimiyé is handled by a trio of talented beatmakers: Jayjay, StillNas, and Selman. Jayjay, a former member of the Eddy Hyde collective, made his mark collaborating with Alpha Wann on Don Dada Mixtape Vol. 1. StillNas has worked on major hits, producing for Franglish on Ex, Alonzo on Compliqué, and the group 13 Block on the anthemic Balayer. As for Selman, he has left his imprint on multiple Alpha Wann projects and played a significant role in Nekfeu’s latest album.
The result? A vibrant, hard-hitting urban production that seamlessly fits Aya Nakamura’s musical universe. Staying true to her essence, she effortlessly delivers her signature sound.

Sharp lyrics, unapologetic attitude

In Chimiyé, the artist playfully explores themes of love and independence. While her suitor dreams of marriage, Aya seems far from ready to say “yes”:

“Mais qu’est-ce qu’il raconte ? (Qu’est-ce qu’il raconte ?)
Peut-être qu’il a raison (Peut-être qu’il a raison)
Si j’étais pas têtue (Si j’étais pas têtue)
On serait mariés depuis des saisons (Mariés depuis des saisons)
Des fois j’abuse, trop de caprices
Il a dit j’abuse, ‘Deviens plus mature’ (Deviens plus mature)”

A visually captivating music video

The music video for Chimiyé, directed by Bastien Sablé, embraces a minimalist and refined aesthetic, dominated by nude color tones—one of today’s biggest visual trends. Poised and effortlessly stylish, Aya Nakamura takes us through a day in the life of a modern princess, exuding confidence and charm.
This isn’t the first time Bastien Sablé has elevated her artistry. He previously directed the iconic video for Djadja, the global hit that catapulted Aya Nakamura to stardom and solidified her status as one of the most influential figures in contemporary pop and urban music.
