Gazo and La Mano 1.9 drop the track Pop!

The highly anticipated return of Gazo is here. Before the release of Drill FR, Gazo was a relatively unknown name. When Booska Colombien visited him in northern Paris, Gazo revealed that he was close to quitting music altogether. He even set a challenge for his followers: “if I don’t hit this view count, I’ll stop”. Fortunately, he persevered. As the founder of the French drill movement, alongside heavyweights from the 667 and Lyonzon crews, Gazo dominated the charts with Drill FR and especially KMT, which placed him among the top three most-streamed artists on Spotify in France in 2023.

After collaborating with fellow rising star Tiakola, Gazo returns to his roots, announcing a new project: Apocalypse Imminente. To kick things off, he unveils a dark and powerful track with La Mano 1.9, an artist quickly making a name for himself through collaborations.

The instrumental for this hard-hitting track was produced by SHK and ALX. Known for his dark drill tracks, SHK has collaborated with Freeze Corleone (despite the controversy) on songs like Voldemort, Amérique du Sud, and Lamborghini bénie. He also produced Molly for Gazo and Chapters for Central CEE. Meanwhile, ALX is behind the track MTV for Guy2bezbar. This song embodies the essence of drill music, rooted in Chicago before spreading to London, New York, and eventually France.

Drill music, deeply connected to Chicago’s gang culture, stays true to its origins in this track, highlighting the artists’ experiences with a touch of humor and irony: “Et mon doré, c’est du Cali Plate, il a tiré une latte, il fait des galipettes (Ah) / Ouais, dans l’avion, c’est Louis, mon plaid, nan, j’fais pas fumer, j’ai roulé mon pers’ (Ah, gang, gang)” and “Longtemps qu’j’suis plus dans les chourades, single en ro’-ro’, j’connais plus les tarots, eh (J’connais plus les tarots)”.

The music video combines luxury and street style, featuring scenes shot both in neighborhoods and opulent settings. Directed by the talented London-based Don Prod, he recently crafted visuals for Evicted by MR.DND and Mol by Central CEE featuring Raye.
