Werenoi and Gims unveil “Piano”

Werenoi has quickly established himself as one of the leading figures in the French rap scene. His latest project, Diamant, sold over 50,000 copies in its first week — an impressive milestone that reflects his meteoric rise. For comparison, even Lacrim, who had just been released from prison and signed to Def Jam at the time, didn’t hit that mark with his gold-certified album Corleone, which is widely considered a pivotal release in his career.

But Werenoi remains grounded. A few years back, during an interview on BFM TV he says that he keep his head on his shoulder. It make sense when you know the punchline from PNL’s track M: “L’public j’m’en fous, j’sais qu’il me lâchera.” (“I don’t care about the crowd, I know they’ll drop me someday”). A clear sign that he’s not letting fame go to his head.

Now, the artist drops a fresh new single from his upcoming album Diamant noir, this time teaming up with Gims. The track, titled “Piano”, flips expectations. Don’t expect a mellow piano-rap ballad or an urban beat sprinkled with a melodic loop — Werenoi steps out of his comfort zone, embracing the pop codes that have defined the vocal leader of Sexion d’Assaut.

The track’s production is handled by Maximum Beats, a prolific beatmaker within Gims’ musical universe. His credits include tracks like Ninao, Baby, Spider, Vent du Nord, and Diana. The musical direction here is crystal clear: an upbeat, radio-ready pop sound, built for high-rotation playlists and mass appeal.

Lyrically, the duo leans unapologetically into the egotrip style, mixing flash and irony with a touch of swagger:

“J’arrive en retard, je sors de la caisse, y a full up de fans qui m’pointent de l’index
Il a pas d’quoi tenir tout le mois, c’est sûrement pour ça qu’il tape dans la caisse
Évidemment, c’est sans équivoque (Mmh), si tu vois mon ex, ne donne pas l’adresse”

The video, directed by Like a Monday Films, was shot in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. With its sun-drenched luxury settings, Werenoi and Gims are kicking off the French rap summer season in style — and with clear intent.
