Wejdene is undoubtedly the very first true phenomenon to emerge from TikTok. When she released *Anissa*, the young singer — as she explained in an interview with Léa Salamé on France Inter — went from total obscurity to becoming a national icon. With disarming humility, she shared how she realized that many artists struggle for years without ever reaching fame. That’s when she asked herself: *“Why me?”*. Her answer, both simple and sincere: *“It’s God’s will!”*.
Following that explosive success, Wejdene took full control of her artistic direction, steering her music toward a more modern and emotionally rich R’n’B sound.
She now returns with a brand-new single titled *Ghali*. In this track, the chorus echoes the rhythms of oriental music. It’s a bold and refined fusion that Wejdene delivers, representative of a new wave of artists unafraid to draw from African influences — especially those rooted in the Maghreb.
Wejdene dances to the sound of *Ghali*!
The track’s production is handled by a seasoned trio of beatmakers: Zeg P, Seezy, and Manu Manu. Zeg P and Seezy had previously collaborated on the entirety of *Horizon Vertical*, a pioneering French rap album by Vald and Heuss L’Enfoiré, where their musical worlds merged seamlessly. Meanwhile, Manu Manu is a regular collaborator of SCH, notably producing the hypnotic *La pluie* on his latest project *JVLIVS III*. On *Ghali*, the three deliver a rhythmic and captivating instrumental, infused with unapologetic oriental influences.
Wejdene switches seamlessly between Arabic and French vocals, delivering the lyrics with striking emotional precision:
“You’re playing with my heart and
I don’t ask you questions
All the answers scare me
I’m getting emotional”
The music video, with its cinematic flair, was shot in a studio setting between the burning sands of the Sahara and stylized ruins of a shattered acropolis. It was directed by Antoine WIBAUX, known for his frequent collaborations with artist Stanislas.
