Last Friday, Monsieur Nov unveiled his new project Nov, a body of work that marks a true artistic rebirth. True to his identity, the artist blends R&B and neo-soul with subtle touches of trap, delivering an album steeped in a deliberate sense of melancholy. For this project, he brought in collaborators such as Wejdene, Joé Dwèt Filé, Rsko, Blynk, and Leto. In an interview with Planète Rap, he recalled that back in 2008, at the very start of his career, he was still working as a baggage handler at Roissy airport. Since then, he has built a rich and respected career, supported by a strong artistic legacy.
This journey has earned him several distinctions, including a Gold Single certification for his collaboration “Dernier je t’aime” with Josman, as well as for “M3LO World” with Rnboi, and “Reste là” with Tiakola and Rnboi. More recently, Monsieur Nov officially embraced a new stage in his career by adopting the name Nov (New Original Vibes). This shift signals a fresh chapter for the artist and embodies the revival of French R&B. With the single “T’aimes ça”, a cornerstone of the album, he reaffirms his commitment to breaking new ground.
“T’aimes ça”, the blazing centerpiece of Nov’s project
The track’s production is handled by Nov himself alongside Steph One, best known for his work with Benjamin Epps. Steph One also produced Ma came for Franglish, 93 Bpm for Dinos, and his own breakout hit Helsinki. With “T’aimes ça”, Nov delivers a modern R&B track infused with a new vibe he aims to firmly establish within the urban music scene.
The song stands out with its smooth instrumental, juxtaposed against explicit lyrics that capture an all-consuming passion:
“I tear off your lingerie, your fishnet tights
Dark thoughts on my mind if you want to taste the madness
Come closer, baby”
Here, the artist paints the picture of a fiery relationship fueled by both sensuality and intensity. The visual, directed by Alex Haze, places Nov against a striking red backdrop, surrounded by his vixens. Minimalist yet highly effective, the video perfectly matches the song’s atmosphere. This is consistent with Alex Haze’s signature style, already seen in standout visuals like Go by Rim’K and Kekra, as well as Violet by Uzi and RK.
