Swift Guad and Ol Zico are intensely sharpening their collaborative project with the powerful track “Everyday”. Swift Guad, a prominent figure from eastern Paris, remains one of the last strongholds of authentic rap as it thrived in its golden age: a deeply engaged rap, filled with introspective lyrics that steer clear of glorifying capitalist values or thug life clichés. This track is no exception. With “Everyday”, the rapper carves his unique style into the annals of rap.
Swift Guad and Ol Zico own “Everyday”!
The track’s instrumental production, crafted by Beus Bengal, a longtime collaborator of Swift Guad, is just as striking. He also produced titles like “Hécatombe”, “Pour les p’tis”, and “Juste un couplet”. The sound, both classic and authentic, pays a true homage to 90s rap—a style that Swift Guad and Ol Zico proudly champion, and which can still be found at the “Biffmaker” shop in northern Paris.
In “Everyday”, which resonates like a rap version of “Comme d’habitude”, the two artists deliver deeply engaged messages with refined technique: “Here, everyone has their own version so I won’t comment” and “Hey man, these aren’t walls, but rather walls of sound”. Old-school radios, cathode-ray screens, and vintage decor elements transport us to another era, set in an empty cinema where Swift Guad and Ol Zico sit as spectators. As Ol Zico himself says: “Every day, I write my last chapter.”
The video was directed by Skaf, a filmmaker who regularly works with artists in the same scene, such as Blackdoll, Kwell Khan, and DoudouMax.
