Soprano drops a striking 16 on the new project by Souffrance, titled Hiver Automne—a name that resonates with an offbeat elegance, like a reversed fashion show. The track Compte Double stays true to the essence of pure rap. Soprano takes the opportunity to remind a journalist from Le Parisien that before anything else, he’s a rapper—not just a singer.
The Marseille-born artist began his journey with Psy4 de la Rime, making a strong impression from the start with the track Le son des bandits. Since then, his solo career has skyrocketed, racking up diamond certifications since Cosmopolitanie. But behind the pop icon still stands a committed lyricist. Compte Double is proof of that. Already on the collective project 13 Organisé, Soprano and other Marseille rap veterans had made waves with Sous le soleil. Covered in gold and diamonds, the singer proves once again: he’s a rapper through and through.
Souffrance and Soprano connect for a powerful Compte Double
The track’s production is credited to Tony Toxik, a longtime collaborator within Souffrance’s universe. Together, they’ve crafted standout tracks like Bruce Wayne, Van Damme, and Authentique. Tony Toxik frequently works with rappers known for sharp lyrics and polished flows, such as Swift Guad and Davodka. He also produced Sierra Leone for La Fouine. His production here is sleek and modern, giving both MCs space to shine with razor-sharp punchlines.
Souffrance: It’s gonna burn like the ghetto without Mary Jane
Arabs, Blacks, Italians, 93 at night, zombies like in Code Veronica
Soprano slips in a direct reference to Hostile 2006, a legendary group project that followed the iconic Premières Classes compilations. He had made his mark there with the track Moi j’ai pas, which, though iconic, may sound somewhat dated today. He also drops a witty line: I’m shaved bald like the coach of Benzé and CR7.
The visual was entrusted to Léo Htag, a director known for his raw hip-hop aesthetic. He previously worked on the video for Ça parle de by Demi Portion, and here he captures the full intensity of an unexpected duo—raw introspection meets technical mastery.
