Sopico will no doubt “make it happen”!

In 2022, Sopico unveiled his project Nuages / Orages. True to his artistic DNA, he has navigated between the worlds of rock and rap since his early days. He draws his inspiration from the raw energy of Nirvana and Linkin Park as much as from the legacy of French rap’s golden age. On stage, this emblematic member of the 75e Session, originally from the 18th arrondissement of Paris, doesn’t hesitate to pull out his guitar, evoking the early performances of K.Point. When Youssoupha stated in Négritude that “rap is the new French chanson”, Sopico offered his own reflection in Blick:

“For me, the new French chanson is made by artists who take risks. When I started rapping with my guitar, I was the only one doing it. I believe you have to stand out, dare to do something different. You can stick to tradition, but that’s not what interests me.”

Staying true to his singular approach, Sopico is gearing up to release his new project, Volez-moi. He has already dropped a first glimpse with the track J’vais le faire. No rock accents or guitar solos here—this song once again highlights the sharp pen of a truly distinctive artist.

Sopico will no doubt “make it happen”!

The track’s production is handled by Sopico and Yawata. The longtime collaborator had previously worked with him on Grand Cercle and also contributed to DA Uzi‘s album Mexico with the track Dans le tour. On J’vais le faire, the soundscape is driven by a haunting sample layered over a stripped-down beat. A discreet poet at heart, Sopico crafts an existentialist narrative, steering clear of the exaggerated ego and bling often found in the genre—a rare and refreshing stance nowadays.

“I was about to laugh, back then I didn’t know, it was old
Go on, leave
Their curse deepens the tears, that’s said
Dodge the ones you catch crossing my gaze”

His message, both somber and sincere, resonates with a raw realism. Visually, Béton Film signs off with a bold clip: a nocturnal journey through the authentic heart of Paris, enhanced by subtle special effects. Béton Film had previously made an impression with Joysad‘s music video Enfer, confirming their talent for strong visual storytelling.
