In 2023, Mayo dropped his project Yoski 2, featuring major names like Ninho, Niska, Rsko, Maes, and Uzi. Always looking for fresh vibes, the artist flew to the Congo, heading to Kinshasa, to shoot a bold and melodic track titled “J’encaisse”.
More recently, he followed up with the single “Business” alongside Chily—a track that highlights his ability to blend raw street energy with Congolese musical influences.
Mayo has established himself as a hybrid artist at the crossroads of rap, singing, rumba, and Congolese ndombolo, with a vocal signature that’s instantly recognizable.
Mayo takes off to Kinshasa with “J’encaisse” !
The production on “J’encaisse” is signed by Noxious, one of the most respected beatmakers in the French rap scene—often compared to Dany Synthé for his versatility. His producer tag, instantly recognizable, has made its mark across multiple generations of rappers. On this track, he delivers a street-driven, tightly produced beat that perfectly matches the vibe of
Mayo, while giving him room to craft a catchy sung chorus.
The video, shot in the working-class neighborhoods of Kinshasa, was directed by Christ Kingombo, known for his work on the visual for “Ma chérie” by Bien and Fally Ipupa. An immersive piece of work that captures both the raw energy of the setting and Mayo’s magnetic presence.
