Major Lazer has been a key force in global music for over a decade, standing at the crossroads of two geographically close yet culturally rich worlds: the United States and Jamaica. From the very beginning of their career, the members of the DJ collective have blended an array of genres, shaping a signature sound that travels far beyond borders.
They return on November 21, 2025 with a brand-new mixtape: Gyalgebra.
Gyalgebra marks a decisive turning point for Major Lazer, offering a renewed exploration of Caribbean music. The collective, led by Diplo, reaffirms its deep connection to dancehall and to the hybrid influences that have defined its identity, while introducing a major evolution: the inclusion of a woman for the first time, America Foster. Until now, all current and former Major Lazer members had been men. Discovered in 2024, America Foster quickly established herself as a standout voice and contributes to five tracks on the project. From the moment she joined, the group positioned her at the heart of this new era.
The mixtape also brings together a diverse cast of guests — Tokischa, SadBoi, DJ Chipman, Busy Signal, Bunji Garlin, Lady Lava — highlighting the group’s commitment to reflecting the breadth and dynamism of today’s Caribbean and global scenes.
Across its nine tracks, Gyalgebra embraces a blend of drill, zess, bouyon, soca and funk carioca, continuing the inventive spirit that propelled Major Lazer to international success.
This mixtape stands as a key milestone as the group continues to expand its global presence, with major festival appearances ahead, including upcoming editions of Coachella and the Ultra Music Festival.
