In 2024, Lyna Mahyem unveiled her latest project, “Mon âme”, a powerful album featuring collaborations with Bryan MG, Nassi, and Numidia Lezoul. Since the beginning of her career, she has actively championed women’s rights. In 2020, she had already asserted this commitment with “Femme Forte”, a project dedicated to the realities faced by women today.
Her artistic journey began eight years ago with “92iveyron”, a remix of the iconic track by Booba. At the time, Lyna Mahyem was a young woman navigating the rap industry, which was still dominated by misogynistic attitudes. Reflecting on this period, she shared her thoughts on ADO FM:
"That was the time when we started normalizing the presence of women in rap. Artists like Aya and Nej' were emerging, and we realized that women had a much bigger role to play beyond just backing vocals. We had to break barriers and claim our rightful space in the industry."
In the 90s, female rappers were often sidelined, confined to background roles, far from the spotlight. Today, Lyna is shattering those norms with “Que Dalle”, a bold and powerful track that has taken TikTok by storm. Within days, the song became a rallying cry against gender-based violence, fueled by raw and emotional testimonies that Lyna chose to integrate into her music video.
Lyna Mahyem delivers a powerful manifesto with “Que Dalle”!
The song’s production is crafted by Ghez, a renowned producer in the French rap scene. He has worked with artists such as Remy and recently produced tracks like “Ça ira” for L’Algérino and “Jamais Yensak” for Lyna and Numidia Lezoul. His signature style is deeply felt in “Que Dalle”, where a haunting piano melody sets the tone before giving way to a heart-wrenching guitar solo—capturing the pain and resilience of the women whose voices echo through the song.
Lyna does not hold back, fearlessly exposing the harsh realities faced by many victims:
"I thought I had won everything, but you dragged me into darkness / Remember the times when you raised your hand / I had to stay silent to protect our love."
Directed by Tchicken, the music video blends footage of Lyna in the studio with harrowing scenes of abused women, capturing the raw emotion of their stories. The video delivers an unfiltered, hard-hitting perspective on a reality too often ignored. The message is undeniable: “Que Dalle” may very well become the anthem of a generation that refuses to stay silent in the face of injustice.
